Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Explaining the Cause in Detail

Guan Xing's movements were like wind and rain, leaving everyone staring in rapt attention. This hardly looked like medicine—it was more like the most spectacular magic performance imaginable.

As the blood-water flowing from the wound in the patient's arm gradually thinned and diminished, Guan Xing struck like lightning and pulled out one of the silver needles. Instantly, the blood-water surged again, gushing forth. The explosive force formed by the blood-water grew even stronger—each burst came with a sharp, violent crack, its momentum truly frightening.

If Guan Xing hadn't been raising his blade again and again to split those large bubbles, the surrounding instruments would likely have been completely destroyed by the exploding spray of blood. Outside the reinforced glass, the onlookers watched in terror. Blood-water emerging from a human body producing such power—this was perhaps a first in human history.

Stephenti immediately summoned the ten most renowned experts in the alliance to come and carefully study the explosive power of the blood-water bombs. Perhaps he truly intended to use this medical breakthrough to negotiate more research funding from the M Nation's Department of Defense.

One silver needle was pulled out, the blood-water drained away; then the second needle was removed. By the time the third needle was extracted, half of the patient's body had already deflated, slimming down by more than half. Guan Xing then began releasing the flood from the other half of the body. The method was essentially the same, but his hand movements were even faster, leaving everyone dazzled.

Sweat streamed down Guan Xing's face. At this moment, no one could help him. If the blood-water bombs were to explode all at once, the power would be immense—the patient being blown apart would be entirely possible. Aside from using powerful true qi to suppress the swelling water within the body, he also had to keep his mind perfectly focused, splitting each blood-water bubble as it formed.

In a little over an hour, Guan Xing had swung his blade more than a thousand times. Silver flashes of blade light dazzled the eyes.

Blood stained the floor red, and even Guan Xing's white medical gown was dotted like plum blossoms—brilliant in a grim way. When the swelling in the limbs finally subsided, the patient's entire body seemed to return to calm. Yet his face was lifeless, devoid of any sign of vitality. He appeared to lack the courage to face his own condition.

When Guan Xing stepped out through the glass door, ignoring the blood-soaked filth on his clothes, everyone—including old Stephenti—crowded around him. This hour-long treatment had allowed everyone to witness the profound mystery of Eastern medicine. It truly lived up to the name of divine medicine—the Eastern Divine Hand was indeed the hand of a god from the East.

Boles exclaimed in awe, "Xing, you're truly my idol. Your surgery was like performing magic. Watching the patient's accumulated fluid recede—I can hardly believe my eyes."

That was likely the unanimous thought of all the doctors present.

Stephenti asked nervously, "Xing, how is the patient now?"

After exerting himself fully for over an hour, Guan Xing was truly exhausted. Hearing the question, he replied, "I've temporarily removed the accumulated fluid from the patient. At the very least, he should be safe for twelve hours, and his period of consciousness can last more than six hours. This is his only chance to survive. Chairman, I need to rest now."

Seeing how drained Guan Xing was in both body and mind, none of the doctors—despite being full of questions—spoke up. Everyone understood that he needed rest.

Yibi and Boles supported Guan Xing on either side. At Stephenti's instruction, they left the treatment room. All the other doctors followed them out as well. They still hoped to hear Guan Xing's explanation—this fluid-draining treatment had already surpassed the boundaries of conventional medicine, and everyone burned with curiosity.

After everyone else had left, Stephenti remained behind with several senior doctors, looking at the patient covered in bloodstains. Finally, one of them spoke up. "Mr. Stephenti, it seems the human body really can form a bomb. This has immense military significance. I believe the Minister would be very interested."

"Collect all the data you need," Stephenti said calmly. "I'll report it to the Minister. As a doctor, I don't want to participate in weapons research. This is merely a transaction." With that, he slowly walked away.

Many of the personnel who had arrived later were officials from the Department of Defense. They were responsible for coordinating and supervising the Medical Alliance. Any special substances or drugs applicable for military use would be taken over by them in full. Five percent of the alliance's research成果 belonged to the Department of Defense.

After Stephenti left, several officials whispered among themselves. One of them said, "Why not have that Chinese Xing organize the data? He understands the principles better than we do."

Another immediately replied, "That's not for us to ask. Here, we follow Mr. Stephenti's orders. If you have questions, ask the Minister."

With that, no one delayed any further. They all put on protective suits and entered the treatment room, beginning to collect every physical indicator from the deflated patient, not daring to miss a single detail.

Guan Xing was sent back to his room, and no one disturbed his rest. Everyone else returned to their own rooms as well. Only a few doctors, too impatient to learn about the human bomb phenomenon, sprawled directly on the sofas outside Guan Xing's suite, not even bothering to change clothes before lying down.

It wasn't until dusk that Guan Xing finally eased the fatigue in his body. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, he began circulating the fusion of essence, qi, and spirit. Half an hour later, he felt refreshed. The earlier drainage of accumulated fluid from the edema patient had truly consumed an enormous amount of his energy.

Feeling a bit hungry, Guan Xing couldn't help thinking of Yiran's cooking. Unfortunately, in M Nation, it was hard to find truly authentic Chinese home-style dishes.

When he opened the door, he found that the number of people outside had clearly increased. It was like a pack of paparazzi, all silently waiting for him to appear.

"What are you all doing here? Isn't it time for dinner already?" Guan Xing was genuinely startled and asked in confusion.

Yibi was the first to step forward. He looked Guan Xing up and down, saw that he seemed energetic enough, and felt quite satisfied. With a laugh, he grabbed Guan Xing and pulled him down to sit. "Xing, we knew you'd be hungry. Don't worry—we've already ordered the most lavish dinner for you. It's on me. But could you first satisfy our curiosity? We've been waiting here for four or five hours."

"Yes, yes, Xing," Boles chimed in. "Tomorrow's feast is on me. Just spare some time now and tell us about this human bomb you created. Otherwise, we really won't have the appetite to eat. My God—I haven't eaten all day either."

Boles' words reminded many others. Most of them had actually forgotten to eat while waiting for Guan Xing. Only a few had casually nibbled on some dry food. Seeing Guan Xing, they all crowded over, eagerly offering to treat him to the best meals M Nation had to offer—on the sole condition that he satisfy their curiosity.

Guan Xing was truly intimidated by these people. But thinking about it, the medical diagnosis of a human bomb really did sound like a myth. If he himself hadn't learned about this possible pathological mutation from Hua Tuo's medical canon, he would have found it just as unbelievable as these doctors did.

Shaking his head helplessly, Guan Xing said, "Alright, alright. Since everyone wants to know so badly, I'll allow each of you to ask one question—about the human bomb, or about this morning's treatment. Yibi, you go first."

"Xing," Yibi said eagerly, "this morning we observed that the blood flowing from the incision seemed to carry a very powerful energy. Every appearance caused an explosion. Was that really a bomb formed inside the human body? How exactly did it come into being?"

Yibi had been waiting too long. Hearing Guan Xing's words, he didn't hesitate at all and immediately voiced the question that had been tormenting his curiosity.

This was also what everyone wanted to know. If the water inside the human body could really turn into a bomb, didn't that mean everyone was living in danger, at risk of being blown apart at any time?

Looking at the expectant faces around him, Guan Xing took a long breath and said clearly, "The human body is actually very safe. Every system within it is extremely precise—more meticulous than a computer. What Yibi said is correct. This patient did indeed undergo a mutation inside his body this morning, forming a human bomb. Fortunately, the drainage was carried out in time, preventing a catastrophe."

"As for the components of a bomb, I won't go into detail. But the human bomb is formed by the gasification of water molecules, producing vast amounts of O and H elements. Because of the patient's mental death, these elements couldn't be expelled from the body. Like a gas tank, once a certain threshold is reached, an explosion is perfectly normal—and its power can be immense."

After the first question, Boles immediately asked the second. "Once the human body mutates and forms a bomb, is there still any way to save the patient?"

"That requires further research," Guan Xing replied. "I only have a preliminary understanding. As far as we know now, once such a mutation forms destructive power inside the body, there are only two possibilities. One is drainage like what I did—but that's not something an ordinary person can accomplish. The second is destruction. When the mind has already died, such a person can no longer be saved."

With the questions underway, everyone began talking at once, asking whatever they wanted to know. Some even asked where Guan Xing had learned his drainage techniques. Naturally, when it came to secrets of the Guan family, Guan Xing could only resort to skillful evasion.
