Chapter 11 Part 3 Tea, Past Lives, and Staying the Night
I nearly laughed such a name! But, holding it in, I followed Genting. Under the lanterns and rising guzheng melody, I saw Lin Jiabi seated in a gazebo, dressed properly in white shirt and pants little exposed skin.
"Please wait, I'll leave you," Genting said and departed.
I quietly stood behind Jiabi's back, watching her play until her piece was done.
She breathed out, set the instrument aside, took tea from the table. As she put the cup down, she saw me at last and turned, smiling. "You're here, Yayi! Sorry, didn't see you."
"Yes, Miss, I'm here."
I nodded and smiled. "Why did you call me?"
"Nothing much. Master Zhigen's gone down the mountain I was bored and wanted someone to talk to. By the way, do you know how to make tea?"
She gestured at the teaware.
Water was boiling; I rinsed the leaves, then poured hot water into the pot steam rose, scent spreading, with an unusual note a girl's own scent.
After a moment, I decanted the tea into a pitcher, then filled a small cup for her.

As the saying goes, one must be fed before thinking of sex; so Genting returned and showed me to the canteen. To my surprise, the religion was strictly vegetarian the scent of hormones, yet a purely simple meal.

A big pond as wide as half a basketball court sat beneath the stars, lotus blossoms in clear water.
There, wading in the pond, was Lin Jiabi, her bare skin dazzling though I'd seen it many times, this time felt different: tonight, she belonged to me.
Seeing me, Jiabi smiled, rose up, and sat on a rock by the pond, flicking her hair; water droplets flew everywhere in the lamplight, sparkling like jewels.
