Chapter 5 - Going somewhere with the second prince Part 1

How do I start? The fortune teller definitely left a lasting sense of discomfort. You know the moments when you are completing a puzzle set, but when the missing piece can't be found, the urgency to fit the missing piece. Right now, all I know is that there was something I've been avoiding related to the envelope lying on the table. As I think this, there is literally a devilish aura surrounding it.

The irony is crazy since I would've loved it if my life were simply peaceful, but on the other hand, it's been the opposite.

It can't be as crazy as teaming up with the crazy second prince with that annoying grin on his face. Right now, I'm sitting on the opposite bench from him in the carriage.

A few moments ago, I was stuffing my mouth with rich, velvety pudding, so smooth it melted on my tongue with every bite. Long, slender hands wrap around my neck, lifting my head upwards. I see the annoying, recklessly handsome prince with a wide smile. My fist clenches together, resting on my lap. "Don't you think you are enjoying eating this too much? Your cheeks look like a chimpunk!" Followed by the second prince while laughing so hard as he had never before. I gently pat his hands and say, "Can you first take off your hands around me?" He says, "What if I don't want to?" I take off his hands around me; a muscle in his jaw twitches. His grip on me was stronger than I expected, but I managed to break free without a flaw. I grinned proudly, eager to show off my victory.

I ask him, "What are you doing here?" I swear I was enjoying it until he got here! "Do you want to go somewhere with me? The money is on me! Lucryss swiftly avoids my question and counters back with a tempting offer.

Back to the future, the glistening sun shines upon the carriage we are riding, and the second prince pulls the curtains together, blocking the view. The prince boldly says, "You've been staring into space since we left". I cluelessly say, "Have I?" "While in my case, what else do I have to say to you?"

The coach raises his voice, "We're almost there in 5 minutes!" "What if we make a bet on who first makes it to the location we are going, don't worry, straight down to the end of the road, if you're wondering where it is". As the second prince thinks this will be fun to do! "Sure, why not, because I'm going to win anyway," I say, making sure I didn't seem like I was going to let him win. "Whoever wins gets to make a wish", as the second prince suggests, not going back on his words. "Sure", I say. The carriage's doors swing open, wind gushing all my hair backwards, Lucryss strongly grips my hand as he leads the way down the stairs.

"Wait, won't it be unfair for me since I'm wearing shoes with slight heels on them?" "We can stop the bet if you want, considering the disadvantage, of course. It seems like the second prince has a light bulb glowing on his head out of nowhere. Don't tell me it's going to be strange. I bluntly stare as he slips off his black leather shoes, lifting my feet. I almost wobble until I grip hard onto his shoulder. I watch as my jaw falls to the ground, "What are you doing ?" He hits back with an answer, making me feel dumb, "What do you think I'm doing?" I have never seen someone do such gentle actions to me before, the way he slips his shoes perfectly into mine. I almost feel the flush appearing on my cheeks, and I lightly slap my cheeks.

The second prince stands firmly, as he proudly says, "It looks like it's no longer a problem!" I'm worried he will hurt himself. "Are you sure you will be fine without them?" "You don't have to worry about me," he confidently admits. A figure beside the coachman seems to be someone of somewhat high status, most likely the second prince's right-hand man. He lifts his hand up and down, yelling "READY SET GO!!!" I bolted forward, with all my might, stumbling before finding my balance in Lucryss's oversized shoes. You're slower than a turtle!" He calls over his broad shoulders. "Says the man racing barefoot!" He laughs, "I don't need shoes to beat you." My eyebrows furiously arch, fire sparking in my eyes. "Wait until I beat you!" I push harder, catching up until I reach to grab the sleeve of his coat. He runs 2 times faster, and I glare as he is further and further away.

I fall towards the ground in despair. My fists, clutched together, hit the ground. As the second prince loudly chuckles, "quite the confidence you had a few minutes ago." The harsh defeat leads me to say, "Stop talking to me." He crouches down, and I slowly turn my head around as his face is not far from mine, feeling the heat between the two of us. "So... about my wish." Without hesitation, a small frown tugs at my lips, "Don't". He looks at me with sadness, "but you promised."
