Chapter 19 - "Wife Down, Drama Up"

Nandini's POV

Okay, listen.

In my defense... he's been too busy lately.

Calls, meetings, files, more files. I swear I've seen that laptop more than I've seen his eyes this week.

So, I did what any emotionally deprived, slightly dramatic wife would do:

I faked a fever.

Don't judge me. I just wanted cuddles.

Step 1: Blanket burrito—check.

Step 2: Thermometer hidden—check.

Step 3: Sad pout—activated.

I flopped dramatically on the bed when he walked in.

He paused.

"What happened?"

I gave a tiny cough. "I feel... weak."

Pause for dramatic effect. "My body's hot."

He dropped his file. "You have a fever?"

I nodded slowly, trying not to smile. "Mmhm... 102."

He frowned, walked over, and pressed the back of his hand to my forehead.

Then both hands.

Then my cheeks.

"...You feel normal."

Oops.

"Maybe I'm burning inside," I added softly.

He squinted at me like I was a Netflix suspense plot.

"...You're faking this, aren't you?"

My mouth opened. Closed. "Wha—how dare you!"

He raised a brow. "You coughed after I entered."

Busted.

Siddharth's POV

She's ridiculous.

Adorable.

A menace.

But when I saw her curled up like that, all soft and pouty, I realized... maybe I have been distant.

So I played along.

"Fine," I said, grabbing the thermometer. "Let's check. Open your mouth."

She froze. "Wait—I think it's broken."

"Mmhmm. Lying is bad for your health."

She pouted. "You're no fun."

I smirked and sat beside her, pulling her into my arms.

"Next time, just say you want attention, Nandu. I'll give it to you without the drama."

She blinked up at me. "Really?"

I kissed her forehead. "Really. But if you ever fake your death, I'm filing for divorce."

She giggled. "Deal."

Later that night...

She was wrapped in my hoodie, sipping warm soup I actually made (thank you, YouTube), and smirking like the little villain she is.

"See? Being sick gets me pampered," she said.

I leaned in.

"Keep testing me, and I'll start faking my injuries."

She flushed.

"...Karma is real," she whispered.
