Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Power Surge and Manaphy's Observation

To Adrian's disappointment, Manaphy and Kyogre did not appear even after he arrived at Blue Lagoon.

Especially Kyogre; Adrian wasn't even sure if it was nearby.

Furthermore, as they neared the shore, all the Water-type pokémon, except for the Chinchou, stopped accompanying them and returned to the deep sea.

"Chinchou, take care of yourselves too!"

After reaching the shore, Adrian waved at the Chinchou near the bank, and Pichu followed suit: "Pi~

Pichu~"

"Yoji Yoji"

The Chinchou sent electric signals before slowly sinking into the water.

"Let's go! We've been tired all day, let's find a place to rest properly!"

Adrian recalled Gyarados into its Poké Ball, then took Pichu to find a hotel, and immediately fell into a deep sleep.

After all, he hadn't closed his eyes for a day and a night.

Boom boom boom! Bang bang bang!

The next morning, Adrian was woken up by the festive drumming and shouting.

Opening the door, a lively scene met his eyes.

In the middle of the road, a large group of Chinchou was moving forward in formation, hopping along the shore.

The sides of the road were crowded with people, who occasionally splashed water from basins, somewhat resembling the Water Splashing Festival of the Pokémon world.

"The Chinchou Grand Parade, has it started already?"

Adrian, watching the scene, was stunned, clearly not realizing he had slept for a day and a night.

"Yoji~"

Suddenly, a Chinchou in the parade spotted Adrian and quickly waved its antennae and shouted, as if signaling a greeting or expressing thanks.

"Yoji Yoji Yoji~"

Seeing this, many Chinchou in the procession followed suit.

Adrian quickly waved back in response.

"Strange! Who is that young man? These Chinchou all seem to be thanking him."

The townspeople didn't understand why, they were just curious about Adrian.

The Chinchou Grand Parade continued, and Adrian did not follow.

Anyway, there were dedicated people in town responsible for guidance, and since Team Rockets wasn't causing trouble this time, it should go very smoothly.

"To the beach!"

After quickly eating some food, Adrian hurried to the coast where he had landed and began taking inventory of the haul in his fishing space.

This was an uninhabited coast with a sandy beach and a dense forest onshore providing cover, making it very secluded.

Yesterday morning, Adrian caught hundreds of Chinchou on the fishing boat. Except for a few special rare rewards, he stored all the other rewards in the space, having no time to check them.

But now, it was time to tally them up.

"The rewards harvested this time are simply more than the combined haul from the previous Seaking Fishing Tournament and Dragon Sanctuary."

Looking at the dense array of items in the space, Adrian beamed happily.

Of course, this was solely based on quantity.

If judged by quality, the rewards from the Seaking Fishing Tournament and Dragon Sanctuary were still slightly higher.

First were the energy cubes. Adrian counted over two hundred of them, shining brightly like stars in the fishing space.

Adrian chuckled: "With so many energy cubes, even if I don't fish for the next month, it shouldn't be a big problem."

After counting the easiest-to-identify energy cubes, Adrian looked at the TMs in the space; the quantity was considerable, and the vast majority were Electric-type skills.

"Electro Ball 16, Thunder Wave 10, Electroweb 7, Thunder 5, Volt Switch 5, Confuse Ray 5."

Adrian continuously tallied the number of each move, growing excited: "Charge Beam 4, Electric Terrain 3,

Discharge 3, Charge 3, Discharge 3—"

If all these Electric-type moves were taught to Pichu, its strength could be elevated significantly.

Especially the three moves: Charge Beam, Discharge, and Electric Terrain.

Charge Beam is a move similar to Power-Up Punch, allowing the user to deal damage while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack stat.

However, Power-Up Punch guarantees a boost upon hitting, while Charge Beam is slightly inferior, having a 70% chance in the games to raise the user's Special Attack stat by one stage.

In the real world, this chance is determined by the pokémon's move proficiency, but the probability is not low, starting at over fifty percent.

Electric Terrain is one of the Terrain moves; its effect is to prevent grounded pokémon from falling asleep and to boost the power of Electric-type moves.

As for Discharge, it is a purely offensive move, roughly equal in power to Volt Switch.

But it has a special characteristic: when used on Electric Terrain, the move's power is directly doubled.

Combined with Electric Terrain's inherent effect of boosting Electric-type move power, the output becomes explosive.

Although it still can't compare to the Power of One Kyogre, it is not to be underestimated, possessing roughly the Power of Half Kyogre.

Besides the Electric-type moves, the TMs also contained moves such as Water Gun, Bubble Beam, and Icy Wind.

Some could be learned by Gyarados, while others could not be learned by either of the two little ones, so they had to be set aside for now.

Finally, there were the special rewards, including moomoo berry, Dragon Fire Berry, Health Wing, Deep Sea Scale, and other rare good items, besides the Revive.

"Pichu, come here!"

Adrian waved his hand, signaling Pichu to come closer.

"Pi Pichu"

Knowing that its brain was about to grow again, Pichu's eyes lit up with excitement.

Trainer, add points!

Let me see your limits!

"You little rascal!"

Adrian shook his head and laughed, immediately using his large hand to frantically rub Pichu's head.

Pichu initially thought about resisting, but as the TM was infused into its body, its brain started to feel tingly.

Pichu immediately stopped resisting and silently started to enjoy it.

It took a full ten minutes for Pichu to completely digest the dozens of TMs.

"Pi Pichu"

When the little fellow opened its eyes again, its gaze had changed slightly.

At the same time, Pichu's latest Stat Panel appeared, and its move list was truly luxurious.

[pokémon: Pichu]

[Type: Electric]

[Ability: Lightning Rod (Draws Electric-type moves to itself, takes no damage, and raises Special Attack)]

[Moves: Electro Ball (Mastery), Thunder Wave (Proficient), Electroweb (Proficient), Electric Terrain (Adept), Discharge (Adept), Charge Beam (Adept), Confuse Ray (Adept), Thunder (Adept), Volt Switch (Adept), Charge (Adept), Discharge (Adept), Agility (Adept),

Surf (Adept), Protect, help, Shinny, Sweet Kiss, Draining Kiss]

The newly added Electric-type moves for Pichu were not only numerous but also had high proficiency levels, starting at the "Adept" tier, with several reaching the "Proficient" tier.

The most frightening was the Electro Ball move, which directly soared to the "Mastery" tier.

After finishing teaching moves to Pichu, Adrian released Gyarados and said with a smile, "Alright, now it's your turn."

Compared to Pichu, the moves Gyarados could master this time were fewer, only Thunder, Thunder Wave, and Icy Wind.

Icy Wind is a move that Gyarados is naturally capable of mastering, so teaching it was a given.

As for Thunder and Thunder Wave, there were two or three of each left. Giving them to Pichu wouldn't be enough to raise its move proficiency to the "Proficient" tier, so Adrian decided to teach them to Gyarados instead.

After the infusion, Gyarados learned a new move, Thunder, and its proficiency level was directly raised to the "Adept" tier.

In addition, Gyarados's Thunder Wave and Icy Wind were also raised to the "Adept" tier by Adrian.

The improvement in raw strength was limited, but the increase in move proficiency would enrich Gyarados's tactical options.

Finally, there were items like berries and Health Wings, which could improve the base stats of both pokémon, and Adrian allocated them one by one.

In particular, all the moomoo berries were given to Gyarados to consume, increasing its resistance to Electric-type energy, preventing it from being instantly knocked out.

As for the Dragon Fire Berries, which can boost a pokémon's Special Attack, they were given to Pichu to consume, enhancing its offensive capabilities.

After completing all this, Adrian let Pichu and Gyarados go aside to adapt to their new skills.

Rumble! Rumble!

Soon after, continuous, deafening flashes of lightning and Thunder immediately reached Adrian's ears.

However, this didn't stop Adrian from lying on the beach by himself, basking in the sun, a piece of grass dangling from his mouth, and murmuring, "My trip to the Whirl Islands earned me a huge haul of rewards, and Pichu's strength has skyrocketed. How comfortable!"

But what Adrian didn't know was that Pichu's commotion was too great, causing a stir among the pokémon in the sea.

And just behind a nearby reef, a blue pokémon was blinking its eyes, curiously observing him.

"Mana~"
