The sandworm stared back at Vale with both curiosity and bloodthirst. Vale's mouth was slightly agape as he tried to slowly step backwards.
Then it began moving, slowly slithering towards the trio. With a tentative pace, it inched closer to them.
The others had noticed its presence, and along with Vale they began moving back. Still trying their best to stay as hidden as possible.
They maintained a uniform distance between each other, as they all moved forward, but the worm's speed was steadily increasing. Its bloodlust urged it to attack, but the little intelligence it possessed told it to be afraid.
But at that moment, its bloodlust had the upper hand.
Vale tried his very best to keep a distance between them, but it soon became clear that if they didn't start running, the golden sandworm would catch up to them.
