Cole felt relived and confused at the same time, as he grabbed himself up, dusting the hot golden sand off his trousers. With his head up and rolling, been observant, he was trying to figure out where the strange door has landed him — Perhaps landed "them" in. That was when he remembered he wasn't the only one that entered the door.
"Where is this place?" Lenora voice echoed around the atmosphere. Cole tuned back and saw everyone that had walked into the door earlier, dusting hot sand off their body.
"What was that, Mum?" Kevin asked
"We are now in Sahara Desert. I thought we were heading back home!" He added, surprised.
"Sahara.....??" The teens asked.
"Come on'!!. This isn't Sahara!" Mrs. Mason answered
"Why are we here then??" Kevin was so curious.
"Guys!!... Look!" Oliver yelled at them, as she was far from where they were standing. The teens turned in the direction to where Oliver was pointing and their jaws dropped instantly.
In front of them was a grand, cathedral-like structure standing alone in the vast desert.
"Another place??..... Alone in a desert??". The teens were thinking. It felt really strange.
"Come on!. Let's go in" Mrs. Mason said
"Go in that???..... What???..... I thought we were going back home?" Kevin was kinda furious now but he neither got an answer from anyone, as they had no other choice than to obey their Mrs. Mason.
"Being a vampire is strange. More of strange things has to keep happening to us I guess!" Cole exclaimed. From the tone of their voices and the way they behaved, some could tell they were frustrated, being introduced to this "Vampire Myth" thing they don't seem to understand.
The building looked ancient and majestic, made of dark stone with gothic style architecture. Tall pointed arches, ornate cravings, spires and symmetrical towers. At the front, was a large, decorative gate, glowing softly, as sunshine passed through it, casting long, dramatic shadows onto the sand.
Surrounding the structure, was an endless sea of golden sand dunes, stretching to the horizons. No noises, no vegetations — Just silence, space and heat. A few distant rock formation broke the flatness of the desert, making the building feeling more isolated and mysterious.
From the lights, one could tell it was early morning or late afternoon, giving the scene a warm tone. But overall, it felt overworldy as they got even closer to it. They walked into the main Mansion. It was noisy and busy — Like a supermarket. People were walking up and down, as it was crowded with people.
"How come?" Emma broke the silence between themselves
"Wait right here. Don't go anywhere. Just wait here!" Mrs. Mason told the teens
"I'll be right back!" She added
"I don't get it!. This isn't home!" Kevin exclaimed
"We all know, Kevin!. Like Mum and Dad said, we just have to accept all these strange stuffs that keep happening to us" Lenora was trying to tell him. Meanwhile, Cole and Percy were observing the place
"I think this is sort of an ancient Library" Cole said
"True though. But what would parrots be looking for in a Library?" Percy asked, in a funny way, pointing to a parrot he saw flying around, inside the Mansion.
"Like I said, "Ancient" Library!"
Few minutes, Mrs. Mason Joined them. She came along with Mr. Mason.
"Dad, you're here??" They were surprised.
"Come on. Let's get going" Mr. Mason didn't give Lenora the answer she wanted.
"Where are our parents?" Emma was getting worried.
"Don't worry. They are all fine and Safe. You will see them soon" Mr. Mason answered and they all followed him in silence, except from Cole and Percy, who were whispering to each other about stuffs they were seeing in the Library Mansion.
They walked deep into the Library and they found themselves in an small office — A typical headmaster's office. Sitting in front of them, was Mr. Bruce Deverson.
"You live here?" Cole didn't know how the words came out of his mouth.
"Oh, yes, dear. I do. And so will you. This is our home"
"Our??. Home?. Mum, what's going on?" Lenora asked Mrs. Mason
"Come on, guys. We have talked about this. We will be staying here for now. It's safer here" She tried to tell them
"In the U.S, those guys are everywhere" she added
"We can't live here!" Kevin exclaimed
"Oh!. I get it. There are more things for you to see and know too!" Mr. Bruce encouraged them.
"So..... What now?" Oliver asked
"Now that we have no choice but to accept the truth" she added
"Well, just chill off till the blood bond trial begins" Mr. Bruce informed them
"Blood bond?" It was getting too much for the teens now.
"Another strange killing stuff!" Cole sighed and sat on the bench, dropping his backpack.
"You will get to know more soon. Just get rest" Mrs. Mason told them and she went to join in a conversation Mr. Mason and Mr. Bruce were having.
"Come on', guys!. This stuff is awesome. We have powers!" Percy was beginning to like it.
"Let's just hope the 'blood bond' stuff isn't another freaking thing!" Emma exclaimed. They all sat on the bench, feeling tired.
After a few minutes of resting, Mr. Mason came into the office.
"What's up, guys?" The teens focused their attention on him.
"I know it might sound awkward. You guys have heard a lot of new things about yourselves today and you still have a lot more to know. But then, it's for the best" He said
"I told you guys that you were supernatural beings earlier — You can't all be same supernatural beings" He continued
"Are they different types of supernatural beings?" Cole cut in
"Of course and you're gonna know specifically what you are today.... Right now, through what we call "Blood bond trial" Mr. Mason said
"Blood bond trial?" The teens were eager to know more about it.
"It's just a method that is used to tell you the type of supernatural being you are, specifically" He explained
"Nothing too strange about it. You just have to follow instructions" He added, seeing the weird faces of the teenagers.
"So, does it end there?. What happens after that?" Kevin asked, in a cold tone.
"After that, you go stay into the set of supernatural being you will be sorted into"
"Like I said, just remain calm and relaxed. Everyone here is just like you. Don't act weird and follow instructions" He added
"So, you and Mum are Vampires too, right?" Mr. Mason had left the room before Lenora asked the question.
"Come on. What would you think?. Humans give birth to humans" Cole just answered her.
"Well, he came to give us a brief speech. Guess it's time for the blood bond stuff" Dominic said, as they began to hear noise from the outside.
Mrs. Mason walked in
"Come on, guys. It's time!". They all followed her.
Getting into the hall, they saw crowds talking amongst themselves. It was dark but the fire from the candles produced light. Sooner enough, A young Lady, dressed in a brown gown settled the noise down and everywhere went silent, as Mr. Bruce was about to address the crowd.
"I believe we all know the reason why we are gathered here. And perhaps for those who do not know, tonight, is the Blood bond Trial!" He exclaimed. The crowd went wild and calmed down after some seconds.
"We have new colleagues joining in as we all here did" He continued
"We all know the normal and usual method. So, without wasting anymore time, let us proceed" He added
The teens could see something now. They might have not seen it before but now it was very visible — They were standing in front of an Altar. The altar stood at the heart of the forgotten chamber, an ancient relic shaped by hands long turned to dust. Its stone surface was vast and rectangular, carved from a single slab of dark granite veined with faint silver lines that shimmered when light touched them.
The altar rested on four squat pillars, each carved into the likeness of guardians half-beast, half-spirit — whose hollow eyes seemed to follow any who dared approach. A faint hum lingered around it, not quite a sound but a pressure in air.
The Lady in brown dress introduced herself to be Mrs. Helen.
"This time, there are few!" Her voice was crisp, clear and easy to understand.
"You may come forward" She pointed at Oliver, who stepped forward nervously.
Although, she was nervous, a voice kept ringing in her head "put your blood!" ..... She didn't quite understand until Mrs. Helen reckoned at her
"Just follow the instructions" She whispered, with a fake smile.
Oliver took the knife she saw on the altar. It was as if she lost control of herself, wasn't able to make decisions on her own. She held onto the sharp object tightly, as she was panting staring at her palm. She could hear her own heartbeat, as if it was about to pump out of her chest. Suddenly, she sliced her palm.
"Shit!" Cole was able to whisper it.
"That's gross" Percy exclaimed, as the blood slowly rushed out of Oliver's palm, dropping on the altar.
All of a sudden, the stone began to get warm unnaturally, heat spreading outward in thin, jagged cracks like veins beneath skin. A deep rumble vibrated through the chamber, low and animalistic, not loud but heavy —felt more than heard. From within the altar came a soft, restrained growl, as if something wild was stirring just below the surface, recognizing one of its own. The crowd applauded.
"Congrats, Oliver!. You're a Werewolf" Mrs. Helen whispered to her. She didn't really find it cool nor too strange but she just joined the crowd.
It happened same for Percy but when it got to Dominic's turn, there was a different reaction from the ancient relic. The ground beneath trembled slightly, not violently, but with authority. A distant howl echoed— not feral, but commanding —carried on an unseen wind. Unlike the werewolf's raw instinct, this reaction felt ancient and controlled. Dominic and Emma were Lycans.
Lenora took a bold step forward, gave herself a slight cut just for enough blood to flow out. This time, as the blood met the altar, it darkened instantly, turning obsidian-black, as though light itself refused to touch it. Frost crept across the stone in delicate patterns, the temperature dropping sharply, stealing warmth from the room. Then the blood began to emit a dim, unnatural glow, cold and steady, pulsing slowly like a heart that no longer needed to beat. And it did react same way for Kevin. They were both Vampires.
Lastly, it was finally Cole's turn. He was nervous and kinda hesitated but he just did what everyone else did. When his blood touched the altar, the altar hesitated. The stone flickered, reacting once, then again —each response clashing with the other. Heat surged, then vanished. Light flared, then shattered into shadow. The symbols carved into the altar shifted and distorted, unable to settle on a single truth. A sharp crack echoed through the chamber as the altar glitched, rejecting simplicity. The air trembled with tension, revealing a soul born of conflict, balance, and instability.
There was talks and weird faces all over the place. Mrs. Helen and Mr. Bruce Deverson and every other person including Mr and Mrs Mason were shocked — Jaw dropping reactions. Mrs. Helen asked Cole to put more blood on the altar but Mr. Bruce stopped him.
"Now, I think that's all for tonight. Back to base everyone!" Mr. Bruce discharged them.
"Dad, what was that?. Cole's turn went different" Lenora asked Mr. Mason.
"Just follow the rest to base and we will talk tomorrow. Get some sleep. Don't be disturbed" Mr. Mason consoled them and Mrs. Mason lead the teens along with the other guys into the Mansion.
"Another stranger stuff?" Cole was scared this time.
"Just chill, Cole. We are addressing the issue" Mr. Bruce encouraged him.
"You know what?. Just come with me!" He added and they both headed for the office.
