Another cramp ripped through me, sharper than the last—like someone had driven a needle straight into my core and twisted. I gasped, my back arching as pain exploded through my lower belly.

Then again… Grandpa's herbs.The bitter tea he always forced me to drink before locking me away. I'd hated it—hated the taste, hated the isolation—but it had dulled the pain. Taken the edge off.


Without it, my body felt like it was waging war on itself.


"Shit," Travis snapped, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Can't you give her something to ease the stupid pain?"


The delta sounded like he was one wrong breath away from passing out. "I—I can, yes. I just—this isn't something we're trained for. Females aren't—weren't—"
