Chapter 14 - chapter 13

The day of Princess Jugyeong's marriage with Prince Byungsu has arrived. The day she silently repressed but never showed it to anyone.

The other maids and I were getting the Princess ready and helped her put her wedding dress on. I softly stroke over the fabric, wanting to feel the real fabric of an wedding dress made in the 1800s. I couldn't even believe it myself that I had accepted the fact that travelled in time. It sounded even ridiculous while thinking about it.

The red and light rosish almost pearly colours embroidered on the wedding dress looked stunning on her.

It underlined her beautiful golden skin tone in contrast to her pitch black hair which was always so perfectly luscious.

I glanced at the Princesse's face which was turning pale as her gleamy eyes were looking out of the window.

"Do we have a rose?" I asked one of the maids.

She went over and gave me one of the fresh red roses the maids picked out from the garden for the wedding decoration.

I dunked the rose in water and slowly stroked it over Jugyeong's cheeks and lips. "Are you trying to give me some color?" She smiled, sadness filled in her eyes.

I mean I was trying with the little utensils the 1800's were providing. I smiled.

"My grandmother always told me a woman's youth and beauty is shown by her red cheeks and lips. Your highness, today is a special day, even if it's not reaching your heart, do not allow them take your youth and beauty away.."

A tear suddenly rolled down her cheeks and my eyes widened. "Look what you did Y/n" She was smiling but the sadness in her eyes increased with every tear that was falling from her eyes.

While standing in front of the grand door right behind the Princess as her handmaid along with her other maids, the wedding ceremony began.

We slowly entered the throne hall and my eyes fell first on Prince Byungsu who was standing next to The King.

My heart started hammering against my chest while my mind drifted last night's incident. His royal garnment was falling over his broad shoulders and his hair was perfectly combed, nothing like his messy her last night. As if last night was a dream only between us.

As if he could read my thoughts, his alluring eyes took me in while I nodded at him before bowing my head which he replied by the corner of his lips lifting up. I bit on my lower lip to hide my smile while my heart started racing again.

When The Princess slowly walked over to Prince Byungsu the ceremony began officially.

The big door opened again and servants with loud horn trumpets started lining up in a row entered the throne hall. Loud footsteps mixed with the sound of the trumpets filled the hall but all I could hear was my hammering heart caused by The King's gaze at me instead of the Ceremony which was going on infront of him.

The row splitted in two and women clothed in traditional wearings with a see through scarf which was covering their nose and lips elegantly walked in. They concurrently opened their fans and traditional instruments started echoing through the hall by the old musicians sitting at the back of the big and golden throne hall.

The women started a traditional dance for the bride and groom. Swinging their fans along to their body movements and singing in high pitched notes for the bridal couple. It was fascinating how gracefully they moved their bodies with the big fans in their hands. I was staring at them in awe as if I was watching a movie and getting drowned by the beautiful visuals.

My eyes shifted to The King's throne. He was sitting on his throne with no expression on his face yet he had such a dominant aura was weakening my knees.

His words were constantly ringing in my ear since last night and taking that little sleep I had left, completely away from me.

"Little did she know that the Painting in her grandfather's art room started to change as the clock of the past was ticking and the heart of the once cold king was slowly starting to melt."
