The change began at dawn.
Lord was in the Hatchery, watching the new dragons sleep, when his hands started to glow.
It wasn't the gold light of his eyes. This was something deeper, and it was coming from inside him.
He looked down. His fingers were longer. His arms were longer. His whole body was stretching, growing, shifting.
Uru appeared at the entrance. "Lord?"
"I don't know what's happening."
She crossed the room in three steps. "Your form, it's changing."
"I can feel it."
The glow grew brighter.
For a long time, Lord's body had stayed frozen at the size of a five-year-old. His power and his mind had grown far past that age, but his body never caught up. Now it was catching up all at once.
It wasn't fast, and it wasn't violent. It happened naturally, as if years of growth had been waiting for permission and had finally been given it.
