The road was quiet, almost lifeless, as a boy walked alone toward his school. His steps were slow, heavy, as if every move demanded effort. Kais kept his eyes low, his mind already tired before the day had even begun.
"I don't know what is waiting for me today… something worse than yesterday… or maybe a little good."
The school building welcomed him with its usual cold indifference. As Kais entered his classroom, fear clung to him like a shadow. He quietly took his seat, hoping—just once—to be invisible. That hope shattered when a boy approached him, one hand casually buried in his pocket.
"Hey… Kais… where's my money today?"
Without hesitation, Kais opened his bag. His hands trembled as he pulled the money out and handed it over.
"Here… take it…"
"Good… keep this up."
The punch came suddenly, exploding against Kais's face with brutal force. The boy walked away as if nothing had happened. Kais stayed frozen for a moment, his hand slowly rising to the spot that burned with pain.
"Ah… it's harder than yesterday."
Time dragged forward. The teacher arrived. Lessons were taught. The day passed as if pain had become routine. When the final bell rang, Kais allowed himself a fragile thought, almost foolish in its optimism.
"So my day was good. I'm a little happy today."
That illusion lasted only seconds.
Another boy approached, stopping near a girl. Kais felt their eyes on him before the words came.
"Hey… is it him?"
"Yes… it's him."
The beating began without warning. Fists crashed into Kais's body, each strike fueled by anger that didn't belong to him.
"How dare you look at her like that?!"
"I… I didn't…"
A sharp kick crushed into his stomach, stealing the air from his lungs.
"So you're saying she lied?! You dare say that?!"
Minutes passed like eternity. No one intervened. No one even looked. When it finally ended, the boy walked away, leaving Kais on his feet but broken inside. Kais forced himself to walk, faster and faster, desperation driving his steps.
"I don't want more… I should run away from here."
That hope died behind him.
"Hey Kais… where's my money?"
"I-I… I don't have more…"
"What?! You don't have?"
Rage took form in motion. Half of a brick flew through the air. Kais almost escaped—but pain exploded in his left shoulder. Something cracked. Something broke. He didn't stop running.
"So… it was a bad day again…"
Home offered no comfort. As Kais washed himself, the truth settled in—his shoulder was broken. The pain was sharp, but the loneliness was sharper. He told no one. There was no one to tell. His parents would only blame him. With those thoughts weighing on him, he ate in silence.
At 8:50 PM, Kais lay on his bed.
That was when he saw them.
Two red eyes glowed from the dark corner of his room. Kais shook his head, trying to deny it—but they didn't disappear. They were real.
"Hey Kais… we're going to your uncle's house. Take care of yourself."
As his mother spoke from the other room, the eyes vanished.
"Okay, Mom."
"There's food on the table and in the fridge. We'll be back after three days."
"I understand, Mom."
But the darkness hadn't left.
From the same corner, a massive tail shifted slowly, brushing against the shadows.
"Ah… I think it's my hallucination."
Kais turned away. His parents left. Silence swallowed the house.
At 1:23 AM, he slept.
A nightmare tore him awake.
"What the… I'm alive."
He breathed deeply, trying to calm himself—then froze.
The red eyes were back. The tail moved again. Water dripped onto the floor beneath the eyes, though there was no source. No explanation.
"What is this? Ah… I think it's just water."
He lay back down.
Then he realized the truth.
He couldn't move. Not even a finger.
"W-what is going on…?"
The door opened on its own.
Something stood there.
He couldn't see it clearly, but the red eyes burned into him. The large tail swayed slowly. He had noticed this presence since childhood—always watching.
"I think… it's a bad night too."
The darkness stepped forward.
A monster filled the doorway—towering, its red eyes piercing. Its head resembled a wolf's, muscles carved across its massive body. A thick tail, enormous horns, and deadly claws defined its form. It tilted its head slightly to fit through the door.
And it looked directly at Kais.
