The request caught me completely off guard. I'd never even laid eyes on Caspian before. What could he possibly want with me?
Julian looked equally baffled, and even Lucius shot the steward Elias Foster a surprised glance.
But Elias paid them no mind, standing at attention and waiting for my response with military precision.
I had no real choice in the matter. Rising from my seat, I replied courteously, "Elias, I'll follow you."
I'd heard others address him by name when we first arrived at the estate. His calm composure and exact movements made it obvious Caspian placed complete trust in him. That alone commanded my respect.
Running an estate this massive took exceptional skill—he had to be remarkable at what he did.
Just as I'd suspected, Caspian's staff showed no signs of panic over his condition. Everything operated like clockwork, smooth and controlled.
