Bella's POV
A bitter mountain wind cut through the air, sending shivers down my spine.
My body trembled against the gusts, feeling like I might topple over any second.
Penny noticed I had no plans to head back down and asked nervously, "Where to next?"
I shot her a glance. "Down to the cliff," I said flatly. "To find someone."
"Find who?" Terror flashed across her face. Dread crept into her voice. Besides Gavin, no one else was down there.
I could practically see her thoughts racing. Wait... is she seriously going after Gavin? But... he's got to be dead by now!
I stayed silent. I had to see Gavin's body with my own eyes—dead or alive.
We picked our way down the rocky cliffside, weeds and stones scattered everywhere.
The deeper we went, the colder I felt inside.
Even if those stab wounds hadn't finished him off, the fall from that height definitely would have.
Penny looked miserable and tried talking me out of it. "Lady Bella, we should head back."
