THE NEXT MORNING
ISABELLA
I should have known peace would not last. In the evening, Michael appeared with his sister.
"ISABELLA, INAAA'S HERE."Michael yelled.
Ina, Michael's sister and a fashion designer, smiling like she had smelled blood, popped out of the backseat.
"DATE DAY!" She declared.
"I did not authorize-"I began.
Wanessa was already grabbing her bag.
"Shopping spree. She needs an outfit. I refuse to let this be ugly."Wanessa said.
The system chimed.
"PRE-DATE PREPARATION EVENT. SUB-EVENT: WARDROBE CHAOS."The system said.
Michael watched us pile into the car like a man witnessing the end of an era.
"I am not driving fast." He said. "This feels cursed."
The mall was a mistake. Ina dragged me by the wrist into the first boutique. Wanessa followed like a predator.
"Okay." Wanessa said, clapping once. "Rule one: no white. This is not a purity test."
"Too soft."Ina held up a dress, then another one. "Too innocent."
