Five people gathered in Emma's living room. Emma sat on the sofa near the door, and Louis was standing behind her. Sitting across her was Lydia, with Elara sitting at her right, and Julien at her left.
"I'm sorry, Lydia, but can you please repeat what you just said?" asked Emma. "I'm not sure I heard you correctly."
"Yes, of course," answered Lydia. She leaned forward and said, "This is my close friend. His name is Julien. I was wondering if he could help us out at tonight's night market?"
Emma tilted her head. "Tonight's night market? I thought you guys wanted to continue your trip today?"
"I thought so too," said Elara, shooting Lydia a sharp look.
Lydia tried her best to avoid Elara's piercing gaze. "Ah, yes, there has been a slight change of plan. You see, Julien here has always loved crepes. So when I told him about my experience last night, he begged me to let him try and do the same."
