Chapter 173 - Chapter 173 Dragon Egg and the Gateway

Slumping back into his chair, the blonde elder was speechless for a long time.

To the Samurai Nation, the Yamato was a weapon destined to be out of reach; to him, it was a devastating blow.

It was a crushing realization.

"Just how many SlashBlades has Galen Yu obtained now?"

Six? Seven?

Before, hope had been slim, but there was at least a glimmer of a chance.

If the ultimate weapon was eventually crafted and Ronan Mountwell had a sudden burst of potential to catch up, they could have shared the top spot.

The hope was small, but it wasn't non-existent.

Now, there was truly no hope left.

Even if Ronan caught up by some miracle, how could the Alliance ever defeat the Ender Dragon?

Minecarts and water buckets—these were techniques unique to Galen Yu that the Alliance couldn't replicate!

The blonde elder could only hope this weapon wasn't that powerful and wouldn't amplify Galen Yu's strength too much.

He put away the Yamato.

At this stage, this SlashBlade didn't actually have much power.

At most, it wouldn't change once its durability reached zero, effectively giving it infinite durability.

However, it was still not as useful as the Tsukumo in his hand.

Of course, since it was called the Broken Yamato, there must be a way to repair it.

That would be when it would truly shine.

"This dragon egg is very strange."

Intending to retrieve it for Galen Yu, the Wandering Mage frowned as he stood beside the egg.

He knew that dragons hatched from eggs and could be taken away.

But this dragon egg seemed to possess some mysterious power; no matter how he tried to mine it or use magic...

After a few hits, just when he thought he had successfully mined it, it would teleport away to another location.

"As expected of the Ender Dragon's egg, it's inherited some of the End's power."

Knowing that Endermen could teleport, the Wandering Mage sighed.

It seemed there was no way to take the dragon egg back.

"The Ender Dragon leaves behind an egg when it dies?"

"Holy crap, can we take it back and hatch a baby Ender Dragon?"

"It seems useless; the Wandering Mage can't even mine it!"

"That's a real shame. Even without a baby dragon, it would have made a great decoration."

"After all, having killed a dragon, we should bring back some kind of souvenir!"

Seeing that the Wandering Mage was helpless, the bullet chat expressed their disappointment.

They all assumed the dragon egg couldn't be taken and was purely a ceremonial item after killing the Ender Dragon.

"Is that so?"

Signaling for the Wandering Mage to step aside, Galen Yu switched to a torch.

"You have a way to take the dragon egg? I've tried many methods; it won't be mined by anything."

He was about to remind Galen Yu not to waste time when, in the next moment...

Galen Yu dug out the End Stone on the ground, leaving a one-block gap directly below the dragon egg to place a torch.

Pop!

After digging the End Stone directly beneath the dragon egg, it fell onto the torch and popped into its item form.

Picking it up and putting it in his inventory, the dragon egg was finally his.

"You got it?"

It happened so fast that the Wandering Mage was still dazed.

"Yeah, was it hard?"

Galen Yu blinked back at him, his expression innocent.

It was just a matter of using a torch; was it really that hard?

The counter-question left the Wandering Mage speechless, eventually breaking into a soft chuckle.

"It really wasn't that hard. I was overthinking it."

Looking at Galen Yu, the Wandering Mage's mindset was no longer what it was when he first arrived at the Sky Island.

Back then, he focused on helping, wanting to guide the newcomer through the Crisis challenges, though some things were a bit strange.

Galen Yu was still a newcomer then, and the Wandering Mage viewed himself as a senior.

Now, after experiencing so much, he no longer saw Galen Yu as a newcomer.

He was clearly a highly experienced veteran!

He should be considered a teacher!

"But it really doesn't have much use; it's just a decorative block."

Seeing the Wandering Mage's expression, Galen Yu added an explanation.

Unlike the dragons in Ice and Fire, the Ender Dragon's egg was truly just for decoration.

Hearing this, many viewers who thought they could hatch a baby dragon were somewhat disappointed.

But having it was still better than nothing; it was a collector's item.

"Since the Ender Dragon is dead, is our next step to go back?"

"I suspect the special blessing will only appear after we return."

The place was full of End Stone and Endermen, and the most important objective, the Ender Dragon, had been defeated.

Even the SlashBlade was in hand; there seemed to be nothing left in the End worth staying for.

The Wandering Mage wanted to return to trigger the blessing and see what kind of massive buff it would provide, but he saw Galen Yu wave his hand.

"No, we have one more very important task to complete. We can't go back yet."

Something else unfinished?

The bullet chat was confused.

"The Ender Dragon is dead, what else is there to do?"

"He can't seriously mean to hollow out the End, can he? It's all just stone; there's no point."

"Sky Island isn't short on stone, so why stay?"

"The whole place is only this big; you can see everything at a glance. Where could there be anything else?"

"God Yu wouldn't be joking with us, would he?"

"Yeah, this place has no scenery and no resources. I'd rather go back and see my Snow Queen waifu!"

"Besides the Ender Dragon, there are only Endermen, and those aren't exactly scarce in the Overworld."

Obsidian, End Stone, and Endermen.

They weren't short on any of those three. Galen Yu couldn't possibly be waiting for the End Crystals to respawn so he could grab a couple, right?

Those things explode at a touch; you can't exactly take them back.

"What important thing?" the Wandering Mage asked in confusion.

With a slight smile, Galen Yu replied.

"Elytra."

As everyone knows, what seems like the end is actually just the beginning of the game once the Ender Dragon falls.

The Elytra was the ultimate item that changed player movement and provided a completely new way to travel!

"Elytra?"

The Wandering Mage was slightly puzzled.

He hadn't heard of such a thing before.

Records regarding the End were scarce; he only knew about the Ender Dragon and not much else.

Outside the screen, Fries was intrigued by what Galen Yu said.

"You can get Elytra in the End?"

He had never heard of it, but judging by the name...

'Does that mean with it, I could fly?'

Flight!

At the thought of that word, Fries fell silent.

As mentioned before, "cheating" has three main features: flight, teleportation, and invincibility.

Teleportation was obtained through the SlashBlade, and now flight was within reach?

"No way, right?"

He had never seen anyone capable of taking flight in the block world before, so he continued watching.

With the Ender Dragon dead, besides the portal back home appearing near the bedrock center...

Looking around, one could also see a floating structure standing in the sky, also composed of bedrock.

"The Gateway, you..."

Looking at the Wandering Mage, Galen Yu initially thought about letting him go back first.

After all, once he had the Elytra, it would be very convenient for him to return, but the same wasn't necessarily true for the Wandering Mage.

"It's fine, let me go with you!"

Unexpectedly, the Wandering Mage was firm; he didn't want to leave just like that.

"I know there might be many difficulties and dangers ahead, but believe me, I can handle it!"

True to his name, "Wandering," his greatest interest was exploring new domains.

He was full of curiosity about the End itself, and the world beyond the Gateway deeply attracted him.

He didn't want to miss such a golden opportunity.

"Alright then."

Looking toward the Gateway, Galen Yu prepared to enter.
