At the moment Planet Vegeta exploded, Qin Yan was certain that the mysterious power emanating from it was indeed the force of space-time.
The reason Qin Yan was so sure about this mysterious power was thanks to the Grand Primeval Chaos Creation Dao Profound True Wonder Art he practiced. As the strongest technique in the heavens, it stood above all others.
It obscured heavenly secrets, was unpredictable, and impossible for the Great Dao to perceive or trace. By practicing it, one could be free from the constraints of space-time reincarnation, transcend the laws of causality, and stand outside the void of fate.
The Grand Primeval Chaos Creation Dao Profound True Wonder Art was mysterious and powerful, possessing infinite wonders and encompassing all the myriad laws of the primordial chaos.
Thus, relying on his perception, Qin Yan knew that the power was indeed a space-time force. It seemed that Planet Vegeta held secrets that were out of the ordinary. The vast universe was filled with mystery and countless top-tier powerhouses. It appeared he needed to work harder on his cultivation to increase his strength faster.
In the few minutes since Qin Yan and his group arrived on this planet to watch the destruction of Planet Vegeta, numerous spherical spaceships had launched from its surface. Through his perception, Qin Yan could feel that these all carried the Ki of Saiyans likely those attempting to escape.
Of course, some ships couldn't make it in time. When Planet Vegeta exploded, they were crushed along with it, turning into cosmic dust. Many more Saiyans never even managed to board a ship, perishing alongside Planet Vegeta as brief fireworks in the vast universe.
Qin Yan roughly estimated that only about a hundred Saiyans had managed to get away. It was a pitifully small number. Even so, life would likely not be easy for the survivors. A cruel hunt awaited them; whether they could ultimately survive depended on their individual fates.
Frieza and Cooler had been defeated, but their father, King Cold, still lived. Their influence spanned the entire universe, with many subordinates remaining who would undoubtedly launch a frantic pursuit of the surviving Saiyans.
Among all the successful escape ships, Qin Yan did not feel Bardock's aura in any of them. This meant Bardock had not used a spaceship to leave Planet Vegeta. When the planet exploded, Qin Yan felt Bardock's aura vanish instantly. What was even more peculiar was that Bardock's Ki had been extremely close to that space-time force.
Seeing this, Qin Yan seemed to guess what had happened.
He remembered clearly from the original work he had seen in his previous life. It mentioned Bardock resisting Frieza's energy sphere before being consumed by the explosion along with Planet Vegeta.
However, Bardock didn't die. Instead, he was swept into a space-time crack during the planet's destruction and transported to Planet Plant in ancient times.
In his previous life, Qin Yan had seen the Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku special and the Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock movie, so he understood the sequence of events. Bardock had traveled through a space-time tunnel to an ancient era. At that time, the world wasn't called Planet Vegeta, but Planet Plant, the home of the indigenous Tuffles.
The Tuffles were a race of high intelligence and advanced civilization. They created sophisticated weaponry, Scouters, and energy guns. Even the healing liquid currently used by the Saiyans originated from the Tuffles.
Unfortunately, they were eventually destroyed by the Saiyans. This was the survival law of the universe: the weak are meat for the strong, survival of the fittest, and the Dark Forest Law.
When Bardock traveled back to that ancient era, his heavily injured body was taken in by a kind indigenous boy named Berry, who used special Medical Machine Fluid to heal him.
Just then, the village came under a sudden attack. Because the invaders' ships looked just like Frieza's, a recovered Bardock didn't hesitate to wipe them out, briefly becoming the village's guardian deity.
But Bardock didn't actually care about their lives; he only acted because he was reminded of the Saiyans' suffering. He flew off afterward, but didn't go far. Berry continued to help him by bringing food, water, and medicine. Over time, Bardock came to recognize Berry as a friend.
The attackers had come because Planet Plant had been targeted by the Space Pirate, Chilled.
Chilled was an ancestor of Frieza's race. He possessed immense battle power and styled himself as a Universal Emperor, Space Police, and Pirate. He initially used the slogan of "protecting peace" as a pretext to occupy planets and conduct massacres.
Chilled personally led his men to invade Planet Plant, and their atrocities reminded Bardock of his own people's tragedy.
Bardock faced Chilled in a final battle. Returning from the brink of death, Bardock's power was exceptionally strong, reaching several million even in his base form. Yet, he was still no match for Frieza's ancestor.
However, because Chilled looked so much like Frieza and had injured his new friend Berry, Bardock's rage boiled over. In that moment, he transformed into the legendary Super Saiyan and utterly crushed Chilled.
Before dying from his wounds, Chilled left a final warning: "Tell the clan to be careful of the Saiyan with golden hair!"
Thus, the legend of the Super Saiyan was passed down through the ages. Though Akira Toriyama later clarified that the first Super Saiyan was actually Yamoshi, the notion of Bardock being the first remained, even if unacknowledged by the creator.
"It seems Bardock was destined to return to the past," Qin Yan sighed inwardly.
He turned to look at Bardock's wife, Gine. Her eyes were filled with tears, and her face mirrored her deep anxiety. Her lips trembled slightly as if she were whispering Bardock's name. Perhaps she had cried out, but in the vacuum of space, there was no medium for sound, so Qin Yan and the others heard nothing.
Planet Vegeta had turned to cosmic dust, and Bardock's Ki had vanished. They had stayed long enough. As Saiyans, they could not survive in space for long. It was time to leave.
With a gesture, Qin Yan gathered everyone and performed Instant Transmission once more. Their silhouettes flickered and vanished from the vicinity of the desolate planet.
