Chapter 24 - Total Purge!!!

The small gang behind the street was called Liansheng Society, barely forty-some people in total.

They had just heard that Yiqun had been crushed. Before they could even shut their doors, Wu smashed them open with his men.

The yellow-haired leader had just pulled out a spring-loaded knife when A-Bu's side kick slammed straight into his chest. He curled up on the ground like a cooked shrimp, gasping in pain.

The rest took one look at the situation, dropped their weapons, and bolted into nearby alleys.

Next was Fuyi Gang, a Fujian outfit that had come over in the 1960s.

They were holed up behind the back doors of two nightclubs, guarding a gambling den.

Lin Yao had Wu block the front and rear exits. He himself stood in the middle with a blade in hand.

"Either get the hell out—

or lie down here."

The gang boss was a fat, big-eared middle-aged man.

One look at the mass of men behind Lin Yao, and hearing that Black Wolf Liu was already finished, he folded on the spot.

That very night, he pulled his people out of Canada Road.

In less than an hour, seven small gangs were either beaten into retreat or surrendered outright.

Only when they reached the final two territories did they encounter real resistance.

These two gangs were backed by Gan Zitai, the crown prince of Hongxing. Relying on their connections, they grabbed steel pipes and choppers and fought back.

"Brother Yao," the hall's acting accountant Wu Qiuyu whispered,

"Those are the Crown Prince's allies. Should we stop for now?"

At that moment, Lin Yao's blade was already pressed against a thug's neck.

"Gan Zitai?" he said coldly.

"Tonight, he can chop me himself if he wants."

A flash of cold light—

The enemy leader's steel pipe flew into the air.

A-Bu followed instantly, blocking with his forearm guard while his fist smashed straight into the man's solar plexus.

In just a few strikes, three or four dropped.

Seeing Lin Yao refuse to retreat, the brothers charged in with everything they had.

The two gangs didn't last five minutes before being completely crushed.

The last so-called "dragon head" was pinned under Lin Yao's foot, wailing:

"Brother Yao, don't kill me! I'll leave right now—I'll never come back!"

Lin Yao ignored him and turned to Wu.

"Clear out all their stuff.

Leave even one thing behind—and I'll throw it into the sea myself."

By the time the last thug vanished around the corner, dawn was already breaking.

The brothers collapsed along the roadside, exhausted—

—but their faces were lit with the same exhilaration as someone who'd just downed an energy drink.

From midnight to three in the morning—

They had wiped all ten gangs off Canada Road.

Even the so-called allies of Hongxing's crown prince were swept clean.

Lin Yao walked to the middle of the street, surveying the territory he'd just expanded.

A-Bu handed him a bottle of water and said quietly:

"Boss, the entire street's clean. The pier's secured too."

"Mm."

Lin Yao nodded, his gaze sweeping over the empty street—

—and then toward the nightclubs and shops where the lights were still on.

Canada Road—cleaned in one sweep.

Wu ran over, flushed with excitement.

"Brother Yao! Everyone's saying it—

they're following you for life!"

"This time, we finally made a name for ourselves!"

Lin Yao smiled and patted Wu on the shoulder.

"It's not about making a name," he said calmly.

"It's about standing firm."

"By underworld rules, we hold it for seven days—

then it's officially ours."

"Tell the brothers—don't get sloppy."

"Yes, Brother Yao!"

He took a drag from his cigarette and said to A-Bu:

"A-Bu, guard the pier. Then screen the hall clean."

"Those who worked tonight stay.

The lazy ones and traitors—get lost."

"Yes, Boss!!!"

This night brought a huge harvest.

The leaders of those small gangs had plenty of cash hidden on-site.

Fuyi Gang had been preparing to pay wages that day—over two hundred thousand in cash went straight to Lin Yao.

They also seized a large number of gold chains.

But the fattest prize was territory—an endless stream of cash flow.

With turf, you could recruit "employees" in bulk.

Lin Yao wasn't stingy.

That very night, he distributed money.

Everyone got two thousand first.

Then additional bonuses based on contribution.

In other words—anyone who showed up got paid.

Even if they quit tomorrow, the money wouldn't be taken back.

That was the reputation he wanted.

In this era, from large societies to small ones, bosses were notoriously stingy.

Pinching every dollar until resentment brewed.

Lin Yao understood the psychology of street punks:

Why come out to hustle if not for money?

No pay—who'd risk their life for you?

An underworld boss had to understand human nature.

That night's fight also exposed several men who didn't pull their weight.

They'd be kicked out the next day.

But the money they received stayed with them—

cheap advertising for the next step: recruiting talent.

At four in the morning, Lin Yao returned to the apartment.

The living room light was still on.

Xiao Fuxing hadn't slept. Dark circles shadowed her eyes.

When she saw him come in, she rushed over, her voice hoarse with worry:

"Brother Yao, you're finally back… I was scared all night something might happen."

Warmth stirred in Lin Yao's chest. He pulled her into his arms.

Brushing her cool cheek, he smiled gently.

"Relax. After tonight, I won't need to fight personally much anymore."

"A-Bu will lead the teams. Wu will charge up front…"

Xiao Fuxing listened quietly in his arms, didn't ask questions—just murmured softly:

"As long as you know what you're doing. You've been exhausted for so long… and you still had to fight tonight?"

"Of course I fought," Lin Yao laughed.

He scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom.

When they finally collapsed into bed, dawn was near.

When he woke again, it was already noon.

As Lin Yao opened his eyes, he heard soft sounds from the kitchen.

Getting up, he saw Xiao Fuxing tying on an apron, placing the last dish on the table.

She looked up and smiled.

"Awake? You were worn out last night, weren't you?"

"Go wash your hands and eat. I made a couple extra dishes you like."

Lin Yao looked at the steaming food—and the warmth in her eyes—and felt deeply at ease.

This woman could handle the living room and the kitchen alike.

Beautiful, capable, and thoughtful.

After washing up and eating a few bites, he prepared to head out.

There were still things that had to be settled today.

As he was leaving, Xiao Fuxing handed him a bottle of warm water.

"Be careful out there. I'll stay home and study accounting…"

"Accounting?" Lin Yao laughed.

"Find a school first. I'll cover the tuition—money's not an issue anymore."

She nodded eagerly.

"Okay, Brother Yao. I'll look into schools this afternoon. I want to help you manage the accounts."

"Good," Lin Yao said.

"I'm also planning to set up a property management company. When the time comes, I'll hand it to you."

With that, he stepped out the door.

And it was true—Lin Yao did intend to start a property company.

The property market in Tsim Sha Tsui was huge, and profits far exceeded drug money.

More importantly, under a property company, he could legally establish a security department—

a perfect way to place people outside official gang rosters.

A-Bu, for example, was ideal.

He wasn't even on Wo Shing's personnel list.
