Chapter 5 - Reflection

When he got home that day, Ling's mother was preparing dinner, while his stay-at-home father was glued to the TV until he stormed in and caught his attention.

"Ah! Xian'er! Back from the interview?"

Ling Xian nodded.

Moments later, he slipped on his cat slippers and sat down on the sofa beside his father.

"So? How did the interview go?" Ling's father adjusted his monocle, crossed his legs, and waited for an answer.

Ling Xian paused briefly, then decided to hand him the acceptance letter directly so he could see for himself.

"I'll tell you later," he communicated telepathically.

Ling's father: "Oh, I see. Fine then!"

"You two! Dinner's ready!"

"Great!" Ling's father slid over to the dining table and sat down.

Ling Xian walked over and took his seat.

Ling's father handed him a new pair of metal chopsticks—the last pair had been accidentally snapped by his psychic energy.

"Here... Don't break these."

Ling Xian handed the acceptance letter to Ling's father.

Father Ling examined the document and suddenly gasped!

"Xian'er... Didn't I tell you? I warned you not to join the top-tier class! Look at the mess you've gotten yourself into!"

Ling Xian: "..."

"Don't you realize how embarrassing this is for us?!"

Ling Xian: "..." I just clasped my hands!

"Look at you! So accomplished. Now look at us—our cultivation is utterly rotten! I'm just a spatial scientist!"

Father Ling pinched his nose bridge: "I really should beat you..."

Hearing this, Ling Xian's face instantly darkened.

Father Ling sensed a spiritual pressure stronger than usual and shuddered.

  The entire neighborhood shook!

"Dammit! Fine, fine! I'll give you a pack of Little Panda after!"

Ling Xian instantly regained his composure: "Thanks."

Father Ling: "..." He only spoke because I mentioned custard bun snacks?!

The pressure dissipated, and the house stopped trembling.

Ling Ma emerged from the kitchen carrying desserts: "I sensed pressure. What happened? Did you upset Xian'er again?"

After placing the food on the table, she kissed his forehead: "Don't be angry, dear..."

Ling Xian: -_-

Ling's father sighed: "I don't know how it happened, but he somehow got accepted into the prodigy class."

Ling's mother sat down at the empty spot: "Oh? My precious son is so clever!" she giggled.

"But now isn't the time to discuss this... Let's eat!"

And so, the trio began their long-awaited dinner.

After supper, Ling Xian climbed the stairs toward his room.

He flopped onto his bed and let out a long sigh.

His favorite pre-sleep ritual was reviewing the day's events.

Gazing at the hazy moonlight, his heart was filled with mixed emotions...

He had been reincarnated to restore balance, and was still adjusting to this new vessel.

All because of that dragon, I got assigned to the elite class!

Not to mention how it ruined his limited-edition snack plan—a grudge he'd never forget!

Truthfully, Ling Xian had possessed extraordinary talent since childhood, seamlessly integrating sealing techniques into daily life.

He had never been able to make real friends, and he gradually grow more accustomed to it.

If he could trade this power for an ordinary existence, Ling Xian would pay any price.

But for him, that was forever impossible and that thought sent a shiver down his spine.

The most daunting part— was how he was going to face school life next week!

Ling Xian stood upright, reaching for the hidden custard bun snacks in his drawer.

Who cares... I'll worry about that after polishing off these!
