The world went silent for a moment, losing its luster as time slowed to a standstill. After what felt like an eternity, a loud sound shook the world from the earth to the skies.
RUMBLE!
A spiderweb of cracks spread along the surface of the Void Creature, deep fissures of darkness that stretched on for miles. Shell-shocked, Cinder could only watch as a large explosion knocked back her flame lances with such force that they dissipated into the wind.
Out from the Green Devil's original body emerged five herculean shadows, mountainous serpents clad in green scales that threatened to blot out the sky with their size. Like the world serpent of legend, it rose, shaking the earth with every movement.
Cinder frowned at this predicament, her eyes blazing with a dull flame, "It's star cores split up, we have to destroy each snake to kill the monster completely"
While slightly stunned by the sudden development, the three squads quickly took action, forming a triangular formation to trap in the serpents as Awakeners launched ranged attacks to keep the monsters at bay.
Not paying any attention to the explosive barrage, the serpents rose, revealing that their bodies merged at a certain point, making it resemble a hydra.
Calypso landed her white dragon on the ground behind her squad, her body drenched of sweat. Her last attack had drained her of all the energy contained within her star core.
Meanwhile, Vikir landed beside her, his form having reverted back to the second form. It seems like he could not maintain his powerful transformation, as his pale face was evidence enough that he too was drained of energy.
Cinder on the other hand was still full of vitality, her face bright against the dark shadow cast upon her.
She raised her arms over her head, a reddish glow dying her figure a soft red hue, "Fire Manipulation: Meteor!"
With a flash of red light, a dozen magic circles appeared overhead, their large intricate patterns giving off a constant flow of heat. The Green Devil looked up, flicking its forked tongues to taste the heat.
Without warning, the magic circles expanded rapidly, each with the circumference of a mountain. As if they were portals to a distant space, a searing heat gushed out like waves, and a rocky surface peeked out of the magic circles.
A dozen meteors, each mountainous in their own right, descended with fiery fury. The Green Devil rose, its many heads hissing with hostility. With a series of sickening pops and cracks, the jaws of the serpent heads unhinged to an impossible degree.
Cinder watched with furrowed brows, her lips bleeding slightly from biting as the Void Creature lunged skyward with unnatural speed, twisting and turning to swallow whole five of the falling meteors.
Frowning in displeasure, Cinder crossed two of her fingers, "Explode!"
BOOM!
Twelve consecutive explosions rang out, shaking the skies and making the earth tremble. The rest of the Void Subjugation Corp quickly moved back, avoiding large chunks of falling rock. Dark smoke billowed, enveloping the skies in darkness and obscuring much of the Green Devil.
Just as Cinder relaxed, golden pupils pierced through the dust, thin slits that locked onto her figure. Before she could react, a sharp hiss echoed through the air, accompanied by an absolutely putrid odor.
A faint clinking of metal sounded behind Cinder just as chains wrapped around her waist, pulling her away from a wave of steaming green acid that came from above.
Splashing on the empty ground, the viscous fluids dug deep into the earth, evaporating the soil into a foul smelling smoke.
Cinder paled, realizing just how close she had been to death just now as a river of acid quickly formed where she had been standing. The chains loosened, to which she quickly nodded her head at her savior.
"Thank you, Esther"
Esther glanced over, a slight smile on her face as the wind weaved through her blue highlights. She quickly turned her attention to the smoke above however, her chains rattling by her side as the dark clouds thinned.
Where the meteors had originally detonated, a stiff skeleton remained, clad in ragged translucent scales. A heavy wind blew, and the hydra skeleton collapsed, a cloud of dust rising around ten glowing eyes, thin slits glaring at Esther.
The girl frowned, flicking a loose strand of hair off of her face, "It shed its body"
After shedding, the Void Creature lost a lot of mass, although it was still quite mountainous, towering above the Awakeners below with ease. A sharp glint passed through its many eyes as the Green Devil tensed up, its new glossy body gathering energy like a spring. Before it could lunge forward however, the tiny prey before it had disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Suddenly, Esther appeared above one of the Green Devil's heads, her body descending and poised for a punch. The wind rippled her clothes and hair, revealing toned abs, a testament to years of training. Meanwhile, purple veins glowed on her right arm, pulled back and ready to strike.
The chains on her jacket shook, magically extending and wrapping around one of the snake heads to propel her body towards it.
BOOM!!!
Chunks of flesh and blood splattered in all directions while a pained wail resounded through the air. Esther twisted her body, her chains shooting out and wrapping around the other serpent heads.
Where she now hung in the air, the mountainous head had been exploded into thousands of pieces by the sheer strength of her punch. One of the chains was wrapped around a green colored star core, pulsing and shaking with eerie light.
A light crack sounded, and the star core turned to dust. The Green Devil hissed with anger and flailed in pain at the loss of power. The neck of the head Esther had destroyed went limp, all signs of vitality dissipating, rendering regeneration impossible.
Esther balanced precariously in the air, the chains on her jacket tightly binding the mouths of the Void Creature, her posture perfect, as if attempting a dance. She smiled at her handiwork, a chilling sadism taking hold onto her face.
