Chapter 140 - A Fighter Amongst the Demons 15

Meanwhile with our other heroine and servant. "Who the hell is that?" Yura asked mostly to herself.

Before them was a bizarre image, worrying them greatly. Naruko was hugging a human woman, letting the stranger embrace her deep into her bosom. And the hanyo nuzzled the mysterious lady. Not only that, but there, as they stood beside a lake, seemed to be at peace. For once the dog girl looked truly calm while the unknown human held her closely, rubbing the hybrid's silver hair affectionately.

"I thought Naruko could've been into girls, but I never thought she'd be into older women." Kagome commented with a blush.

Yura gained a matching tint of red on her face, "Are you certain!?"

"Well, I can't say for sure, but she certainly looks at ease hugging..." Kagome started to surmise, judging everything from how peaceful Naruko's face looked as compared to the usual scowl. The two started to walk towards the pair and noticed something rather startling. The woman Naruko was talking to didn't have a facial reflection in the pond. "What in the world?!"

Yura's face grew into one of annoyance. "She actually fell for it." She groaned.

"Fell for what exactly?" Kagome asked, worried over what's happening and her lack of understanding.

"Come on. I'll explain on the way to help her dumbass." Yura sighed. If it wasn't for the fact that Kagome was with her, she would've gladly left Naruko to her fate, but she knew better. Should her master find out that something happened to his pet and Yura was there yet didn't intervene, then she would be done for. Who knows, if I do this, I might earn some servant privileges. She hoped.

And another awful realization became clear to the schoolgirl as Naruko's body sank into the mysterious figure's, absorbing her. "Wh-wha-what's happening!?" Kagome shrieked at the horrifying picture.

Yura was quick and threw her wakizashi at the yokai, "She's nothing but a vulture!" she shouted as the faceless demon jumped out of her reach, "Taking the form of orphan's parents to lure them and eat them! She is nothing but a trick wench."

Despite her harsh words, the faceless demon showed her true colors while holding Naruko close, "Please, let us be! This child has seen enough and I've almost fulfilled my job!"

"Like I care!" Yura shouted and threw her hand forward, hair flying to try to grab the other yokai, but the faceless figure was faster.

Kagome felt desperate, unarmed with the kind of weapon they could use to complete the job, "How do we—" she gasped when her sharp eyes noticed the reflection on the water, as did Yura. It was a much younger Naruko cradled in the female demon's arms like a daughter ought to be by her mother.

"Dammit, how the hell is she so fast?" Yura growled under breath, trying to catch her with her hair techniques without harming the half-breed too much. There has to be a way to stop her! Wait a minute. So engrossed with catching the fake mother, she didn't notice Satsuki's humble servant until he made himself known.

"What is going on here?!" Jaken shouted. When he came to check on the fake mother's progress, he didn't expect her to be locked in combat with some hair yokai. "Lousy hair demon, you're impeding our progress!" He quickly aimed his staff at Yura, prepared to burn her down to cinders until someone took his staff and planted their foot on his head. "Guh!"

"I'll be taking this." Kagome said sternly, holding the staff above her head. She put both hands on the staff like a gulf club and used it like one, knocking Jaken into the pool with a loud, comedic bonk.

"Human!" Yura called, getting Kagome's attention. "Disturb the reflection!" Using her hair tendrils, she grabbed onto Naruko's arm sticking out of the fake mother's chest as Kagome wasted no time in following Yura's direction, splashing the reflection with the staff of two heads. With a powerful yank, Naruko was released while the faceless mother was thrown back.

"What the hell!" Naruko muttered, waking from her trance. She quickly snapped out of it and looked around to catch sight of Yura, Kagome, and the copycat demon, putting the situation together. "That coward." She seethed. "Using my mother's own image against me!"

"To be fair, you allowed yourself to fall for her tricks." Yura said with narrowed eyes as she hoisted up the shapeshifting yokai with her hair. "Here's your chance for vengeance then."

Naruko snarled. "Not her! That bitch Satsuki!"

Yura paled and nearly dropped the spirit. "W-who?"

Naruko was blunt with her growl of an answer, "The bitch I have to call sister."

"She's here!?" the hair yokai shrieked, "Oh no, oh no, oh no! We're doomed! Legends don't do that demon justice!"

Groaning, Naruko turned to her, "Don't worry, if you're here without much problem, that idiot must have kept her occupied." then she snarled, "Though he better not kill her, that's my right."

"And what right is that?"

At the sound of such a serene, cold voice, Kagome's spine tingled from fear. Yura's eyes widened and, with her pale complexion and lightly parted lips, gave her the appearance of a porcelain doll. Naruko's eyes flared with a rage that would defy dictionaries. For her part, Satsuki merely walked and stared at the demon caught in the hair. On her shoulder was a beaten-up blond she unceremoniously threw on the ground.

Before Kagome could run or do anything, after clasping her hands over her mouth in horror, Haruto let out a low grunt that signaled he was alive. But it didn't please her, "W-what did you do to him!?" she blurted out, and then shrunk back when Satsuki's icy amber eyes turned to her with an unapologetic, emotionless stare.

"He dared to make a mockery of me, but had a point that made my blood boil." She held up a hand, clutching the air angrily, "For that, I'll let him grow for a proper rematch. When that happens, I shall make his death an excruciating, nearly everlasting experience."

Naruko smirked, "If he pissed you off that much, I'm glad I met that pain in the ass."

"I've more important matters to attend to than this pettiness." Satsuki said coolly, looking at the captured spirit she used, "Unmother, tell me the secrets you found out."

"The eye..." the faceless spirit said, but then—to everyone minus Satsuki's shock—pleaded, "But please, do not harm that girl! You have what you–"

"That is enough." Satsuki coldly said before dashing at Naruko, grabbing the still weakened girl by the throat, "So, hidden in plain sight. I knew father had lost his touch with reality ever since he had you."

"G-Gah die!" her little sister choked out while holding the more voluptuous dog woman's wrist, trying to pry her off to no avail. Kagome wanted to attack, but Haruto was still unconscious on the floor. Yura for her part wasn't letting the Unmother go free anytime soon, but also knew she couldn't face someone like Satsuki. Said dog woman put her hand near her sister's eye, energy sipping between it and her fingertips.

If we don't do something, she may kill Naruko, but if she beats Haruto so easily… Kagome started to panic.

Retracting her hand back, she had a small orb, "Jaken." The imp shot out of the water, running to her before bowing, "Next time you lose your staff, your head will roll." She casually tossed Naruko aside like she was a ragdoll, the dog girl flying at Kagome and crashing into her, causing the girl to let go of the two-headed artifact.

Yura froze, I can't fight her! This is madness! I don't even want to be here! All I wanted was good hair! This isn't my problem, not at all! 'she tried to open her mouth as Satsuki approached her, and then walked by the terrified hair kunoichi, "I... uh..." She stuttered in fear.

Instead of saying a word, Satsuki waited for Janken to do his job. And to kill time, she approached her little sister and the girl she was on top of, "You've outlived your usefulness." She said with a hand up.

Millions of panicking thoughts raced through Yura's mind, each more incomprehensible than the last one, but they were shattered by a voice, "Throw me!" With a flick of her wrist, Satsuki lashed at Naruko, who was winded from the throw. Seeing her sister's attack, the dog girl expected a lot of pain... Not to see Unmother herself take the blow for her, with the faceless spirit's body ripped to pieces by the light whip!

Kagome felt pain in her chest when the Unmother turned to Naruko, "Y-You're safe... I'm glad."

"So, the tales are true, her love is truly comparable to a real mother's..." Yura whispered in awe after what she did, her arm extended forward.

Jaken scowled, "That darn Unmother..." he glared at it, "Lady Satsuki, pay it no mind. Entering your father's grave is of essence."

Icily staring at her sister and then the faceless head, Satsuki destroyed said dying spirit with another lash of her whip, "I'll be back, little sister. I hope you can be useful to test something when I do."

Icily staring at her sister and then the faceless head, Satsuki destroyed said dying spirit with another lash of her whip, "I'll be back, little sister. I hope you can be useful to test something when I do." With those parting words, Satsuki opened a portal a few feet away and began to walk off with Jaken close behind.

"You bitch." An all too irritating voice growled through apparent pain. All eyes looked towards Haruto, barely standing up and nearly bleeding out. His eyes filled with rage. "I won't... let you walk away."

Satsuki narrowed her eyes, annoyance once again plaguing her. "Insolent child! Lady Satsuki gives you another chance at life and already you're keen on throwing it away!" Jaken shouted from beside his master, ready to incinerate him at Satsuki's command.

"Human. I let you live so that you may fight me once again later. Once you're stronger." Satsuki flexed her claws. "Do you believe yourself stronger already? How many times must I cut you down before you learn to respect your superiors."

"Superior?" Haruto questioned. "An unfeeling... bitch like you?" Haruto asked, his mind replaying the Unmother's death, Naruko's mother, Satsuki's hate for her own sibling, and even his own past of wishing for a family. "I wouldn't even consider you above garbage!" He shouted with all his might.

He was about to run right towards her until. "Enough, Haruto!" Naruko growled as she stopped him, "You'll get killed, don't you get it!? I thought you'd only distract her, not fight her to death!"

"Do you believe she should get out of here without a scar on her pretty little face!?" he roared, aiming a finger at the cold demon.

Said yokai scoffed, "If you two really wish for an untimely demise, I do not mind if you prove yourself unworthy of the second chance I gave you. Should you die at some lowly demon's hands, you'll prove undeserving." She entered the portal, "However, the power I'll gain will be unlike anything you can imagine. Be sure to grow powerful beyond your limits, otherwise taking your life would be unsatisfying."

"Oh, it's on!" he declared and went after her, only to be pulled back by Naruko.

"No, the bitch's mine!" she raced and entered the portal, Kagome yelling in shock.

"W-Wait, what're you—Are you even thinking things through!?" the schoolgirl finally asked and also went in.

"Stay still!" Yura told Haruto before he could race after them, using her hair to stitch his wounds, "Don't you dare die easily, not after all you did to me!"

He winced as the hair went into his flesh, digging in and closing the gaps on his skin, "Ugh... Tell me it's clean hair."

"I wash it regularly." She said before both looked at the portal, "We'll go as soon as I'm done. Since I don't have as much hair as before, I can't waste it mindlessly."

"You... have changed." He told her, calming down, "You haven't tried to kill me, for starters."

"Blame the spell put on me by that one-eyed hag." Yura growled, showing she hadn't changed at all, "If not for it preventing me from harming you, I'd have done worse than what I had planned at the cocoon."

"I should've guessed..." he turned to the portal, and finally asked, "What do you know of Satsuki?"

"Aside from the fact tales of her power do her no justice?" the hair yokai rhetorically asked, "Her only motivation seems to be to surpass her father, one of the insanely powerful dog demons. For her there's nothing comparable to a limit to reach that goal, as you've seen."

"I was right, then..." he growled, "She seriously needs to get laid."

"What does that mean?" Yura asked, making him blush.

"It means she needs to stop being so uptight..." he managed to get out.

"No, I mean what do you mean you were right about?"

"Oh, that..." he felt relieved, smirking confidently, "That damn pride of hers, that's what I meant. I was right thinking I could use it. And if she's that intent on surpassing her old man, I can—"

"You nothing!" she shushed him, biting on one of the hairs to leave him cleanly stitched, "Blood loss, deep wounds, and getting kicked around like an old ragdoll should've taught you not to mess with her!"

"Then if you're concerned just keep stitching me!" he said and got up stubbornly, "Because I'm not leaving Kagome and Naruko alone with her."

Yura gaped, "W-What!? How can you just—" he jumped straight into the portal, leaving her to groan alone to herself, "Dammit, he better let me have some of his hair after this!"
