Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

A fear of the unknown began to spread around her.

She couldn't just hide in this dorm and do nothing.

Since those things retained their intelligence, they would definitely come into the dorms to hunt for survivors.

Emma Smith stealthily took out her backpack and began to pack.

In her locker, she had a small household first-aid kit and a bag of beef jerky. She also grabbed two fully charged power banks, a flashlight, and a pair of craft scissors.

In another cabinet, she found strong painkillers, a lighter, instant coffee powder, and a water bottle.

After packing all these items, Emma Smith's nerves remained pulled tight.

Is there anywhere safe left?

There must still be survivors in the school, but where were they?

And what kind of creatures were these "Evil Seeds" exactly?

Although the dorm matron wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, she wasn't so stupid as to use her own body to batter a thick iron door.

Furthermore, the matron had the keys to the entire building, yet she didn't use them.

That "matron" had only thought to speak and mimic a normal person after trying the first two methods, battering and silence, and failing.

Compared to the matron, the "Dean" was operating on a much higher level.

He knew to use text messages to lure survivors out.

Based on all this, could there be a possibility...

Those who were bitten fell into several categories.

The ones who died immediately after being bitten were the unlucky ones.

Those who were bitten but didn't die, some became mindless walking corpses, while others retained some low-level intelligence.

And the remaining few... they possessed intelligence completely equal to what they had in life...

While Emma Smith was deep in thought, her phone vibrated again with a few soft buzzes, a sound that was chilling in the deathly silence.

It was another message from the Dean:

Students, the police and I already know your locations. Please wait patiently. I will come to rescue you, one by one, all of you.

Seeing this message, Emma Smith's eyes darkened.

It seems quite a few people have already exposed their locations.

Outside, the noise began to pick up.

The "Dean." Bringing his helpers, had arrived at the dormitory buildings.

Since the girls" dormitory was closer to the main gate, the group entered there first.

Peeking out from the window, Emma Smith clearly saw the Dean, his deathly pale face wearing an expression of extreme excitement, entering the dormitory gate with bizarre, unnatural speed.

As the Dean entered the building, the pack of Evil Seeds that had been wandering the laundry area followed close behind.

They entered the building through the first-floor windows.

Because some people had voluntarily revealed their locations, these Evil Seeds had clear targets.

Emma Smith crouched behind a chair positioned between the window and the door.

From this spot, she could react instantly whether the Evil Seeds rushed in from the window or the door.

Suddenly, Emma Smith spotted a power strip lying under a desk. The faint red indicator light on the strip was glowing.

Looking at that weak red light, Emma Smith shifted her gaze to the pool of blood near the door.

Looks like I just found a makeshift weapon.

Squatting low, she moved quickly to turn off the power strip's switch.

She still had the scissors she found earlier in her hand.

She cut the wire, then tossed the severed end into the blood puddle on the floor.

After doing this, Emma Smith retreated, guarding the switch at the wall outlet.

The puddle of blood was large. If those monsters wanted to rush in, they absolutely couldn't bypass it.

Even if it didn't stop them completely, it would at least buy her some time.

Her preparations complete, Emma Smith hid quietly in a dark corner, awaiting the judgment of fate.

Outside, the sound of shoe soles dragging against the floor echoed.

Dorm 209 was just the second room around the corner of the corridor.

Emma Smith gripped the scissors tightly in her hand.

Fear of the monsters made the footsteps outside boom in her heart like thunder claps.

She was incredibly careful not to make a single sound.

So far, she hadn't exposed her location.

I hope these Evil Seeds don't get a crazy urge to open this door and check.

I hope Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, Grandma (maternal), Grandpa (maternal), and my Sixth Uncle in heaven can protect me through this.

Even though I never burned spirit money for them...

Outside the door, the Dean was standing right in front of Emma Smith's room.

With bloodshot eyes, he looked at the tightly closed doors of the girls" dormitory, excited as if he were looking at cans of unopened luncheon meat.

Several students in the dorms didn't have class that afternoon and were all hanging out inside.

They had revealed their locations, and right now, they were hiding defenselessly in their rooms, waiting for 'rescue."

Behind the Dean stood a group of infected individuals.

Just as Emma Smith had suspected, there were significant differences among them.

Standing right next to the Dean were only three Evil Seeds who, aside from their red eyes, looked no different from ordinary people.

Behind these three followed Evil Seeds with greenish faces and cadaver spots on their arms, though their eyes still held a gleam of intelligence.

There were about a dozen of this type, the same kind as the ones playing with the head downstairs.

And trailing behind them were the low-level Evil Seeds: dull-eyed, bodies covered in wounds, constantly dripping black blood, yet looking around ceaselessly. The dorm matron was one of these.

The final type of low-level "Evil Seed" was the most numerous. They possessed, at best, the intelligence of a six or seven-year-old child, mindless, yet capable of deceit.

The Dean stood there, clutching the dormitory keys he had ripped from the matron's body in one hand, and his phone in the other. He let out a laugh, exchanging a knowing glance with the few high-intelligence Evil Seeds beside him.
