Chapter 31 - A Scumbag

Damien's Pic*

[Mia's POV]

"I swear he will pay, that scum. And here I was planning on letting him off the hook if he said he wasn't like his family. If he had denounced them, then I wouldn't feel uncomfortable being in the same class as him. To think he supports then or worse, he doesn't care. And what gives him the right to touch me? I'll make sure he suffers for this."

Just then, the image replayed again in my mind. It felt as if I was about to burst with anger.

"I should've chopped his arm off. It's no less than he deserves."

No, Mia!

SLAP!

I quickly slapped my hands on my cheeks and took a deep breath.

"I can't allow myself to fall to his level. How would I face Levi then?"

But even then, I still couldn't let him off scot-free.

That stupid look on his face. It keeps replaying in my mind over and over.

That blank expression of his.

"It infuriates me!"

It was as if I was talking to a robot or a brick wall. Nothing I said about his family's evil deeds fazed him. There wasn't one shred of remorse in those lifeless eyes.

Touching my head was all an attempt at embarrassing me, yes.

"What a scumbag. That's what he is, a scumbag!"

"Hey, Mia!"

Just then, I heard what sounded like an angelic voice call to me. I turned around and what I saw made my already bad day turn worse.

What are the two of them doing together?

What greeted me was the sight of Levi and Kiki walking together.

We've only met her yesterday, and the two of them are already friends.

The two weren't coming from the direction of the dorms, so likely they didn't see what happened. That was some relief at least.

If Levi saw it, I would absolutely die of embarrassment.

Levi was wearing the academy's blue school jacket.

The blue really looked good on him.

Anything looked good on him.

His clear skin, his well-defined muscles, and even that goofy smile of his.

It's so unfair.

Everything about him caused my heart to go wild.

Why?

SLAP!

I slapped my cheeks once again. It was piping hot. My face felt as if it was burning up. I fanned my face in desperation, trying to get rid of some of the redness before Levi was close enough to see it.

"Hey, Mia!" Levi called out after Kiki, waving his hand.

From his wrist dangled a pink bracelet. I had a similar bracelet of my own that I was wearing on my wrist. The bracelet was a gift I gave him when we were kids to signify our friendship and that we'd always be together. He wore it every day. I even heard him say he wears it in the shower.

"Eeek!"

SLAP!

SLAP!

SLAP!

That was dangerously close. The image of Levi showering almost came to mind. Something like that was code red for me. I had to take drastic measures.

Walking beside Levi, Kiki was even more stunning than yesterday. Her luscious pink hair reminded me of sakura petals. Her entire figure was well-proportioned with curves in just the right places.

From the rumors I heard, half the boys in class had already had their eyes on her. It must've been because she was one of the more developed girls in our class. Plus she made an effort to talk to everyone.

Looking at her walking beside Levi, I had to wonder…

Is Levi into girls with bigger boobs?

"Hey, is everything alright?" Levi asked.

Lost in thought, I didn't realize when the two of them had gotten close to me.

"Yes, I'm fine," I chuckled out awkwardly. "It doesn't seem like the two of you were coming from the dorms."

"Oh, that's actually my fault. I asked Levi to accompany me to the mall. I wanted to get a few things for the dorm since it's mostly empty. It doesn't even have anywhere to sit except for the bed," Kiki giggled as she swept her pink hair behind her ear.

She was just as energetic as ever.

"I also wanted to buy a few things. They sell a lot of high-quality training gear and different sets of potions; I was planning on getting some. Plus I was looking around for a new chest plate for my armor," Levi followed up.

"I see."

They really haven't given us anything inside the dorms, except for a bed, a few cooking utensils, and shampoo and soap for the bath.

"We're actually planning to go back there after school since we didn't actually buy anything. Do you want to come with us?" Kiki asked.

It might be a good idea for me to get a few things for my dorm too. It's looking a little bit bare-boned. Plus, this might be a good chance for me to get closer to Kiki. She doesn't seem like a bad person. Maybe she and I could become friends.

Or at least I could find out her intentions with Levi.

"Yeah, sure, I'll join you."

[Damien's POV]

Arriving at class, the air felt much more lively than yesterday. The students had already begun separating into different friend groups, while a few of the students had yet to make any friends.

I couldn't help but notice a certain red-haired boy was part of that group. Roku sat at the back of the classroom with his arms crossed and both legs on top of his desk. He wore an unpleasant scowl on his face, which was no wonder why no one wanted to make friends with him.

I also noticed that Mia had arrived before me. She sat at the front talking to both Levi and Kiki. I could feel her eyes on me the moment I entered the room.

Without sparing her a glance, I casually walked past her while waving to both Theodore and Oliver.

After greeting them both, I took my seat at the back of the classroom and began gazing out the window as I waited for homeroom to start.

"Umm… morning."

The girl seated next to me lowered her head and mumbled something. It was the same pale girl who wore glasses similar to mine, and yesterday she was wearing a thick scarf around her neck.

Today though, instead of a scarf, she was wearing an oversized black hoodie that left only the hem of her skirt visible.

Her name was Luna.

It seemed she was one of the few who hadn't made any friends yet.

Maybe this is her attempt at making friends.

In that case…

"Good morning," I said, greeting her with a smile.
