Chapter 32 - Negotiation

With a runway secure, Eric was able to move onto his next objective, getting the pilot on the ground safely. "Chair Force one, do you copy?" Eric said, snickering to himself as he radioed to the pilot. "I hear ya, Master Sergeant, and I'm gonna kick yer ass when I get down there." The pilot responded with his own chuckle. "Jokes aside, I need you to line up with the vector between the two mountains laying to your south. We have secured a makeshift runway for you." Eric looked at the runway, ensuring it was clear of any traffic. "God speed, chair force." He said, looking up at the aircraft as it came in for it's landing.

The soldiers stood at the ready off to the side of Silver Castle. They were ready on the radio to call in support if needed. Mages stood nearby, ready to assist in stopping the bomber safely. Eric had already informed the chief court mage that the air craft was going to need wind resistance pushing against it to land safely.

As the vehicle was making its final approach, mages began to work in tandem to slow the B2 down, and barriers were summoned on the landing craft to protect it from the roughly improvised landing strip. Final preparations were made, and the bystanders waited with bated breath while the stealth bomber slowed down. Screeching tires assaulted the eardrums of all those present when the B2 touched down. Eric watched with arms crossed as the pressure of wind rushing towards him met with the pressure of wind coming from the opposite direction. Eric stood there watching, his heart beating in his chest like a bongo drum as he silently prayed to Triamal. "Please let this work."

After the plane came to a stop, the crowd watching became silent. They watched, holding their breath, before a figure emerged. A man dressed in pilot gear walked down, and a large cheer erupted. "We did it! We actually fucking did it!" Eric yelled, picking Mia up and twirling her in his arms before kissing her. The two stayed like that, lips sealed while ignoring the environment around them before being interrupted by a clearing throat. "Mmh." A voice behind Eric intoned, breaking Eric out of his euphoric illusion. Eric put Mia down, and she grabbed his arm, holding his hand while beaming. He turned around to see the disgruntled pilot standing there, helmet in hand. "Well, Master Sergeant? Do you mind explaining what the actual fuck is going on here? One second, I was enjoying the nice clear sky on a mission, and the next I am…" He paused, looking up at the two suns. "Wherever the hell this is."

Then the pilot noticed Mia's cat ears. "What the…" Eric sighed while looking at the man with slight pity. "Welcome to Brishan, captain. I wish I could tell you otherwise, but you are not on Earth anymore." The pilot collapsed, his eyes rolling back as he fell. "Whoa there!" Eric said, catching the man before he could hit his head. "Medic!" He called, laying the man on his side.

"Let me know when the pilot wakes up." Eric said as he watched a team of hospital staff place the pilot in a small room at the castle hospital. "I will be meeting with the king while we discuss more details of our partnership." The doctor nodded to Eric, smiling. "Yes sir, we will make sure he isn't too shocked when he wakes up."

Leaving the hospital, Eric found Mia outside leaning against the wall. "You act strong in front of the soldiers, but in bed you are such a teddy bear." She said while wrapping her arm around his waist. He chuckled while stroking her ears. "Yeah, and you act aloof in public, but in bed you don't keep your claws off me." She laughed in response, putting her head on his shoulder as they made their way through the castle halls. "Do you think this will work?" She said quietly, mumbling into his shoulder. He sighed and hugged her tightly, kissing her head. "For us, I will make it work. Even if I have to fight God's to do it." She smiled sadly as she kissed his shoulder, remembering the mana wave he had unleashed while trying to save her. "It may just come to that, my love." She whispered to herself.

Once back at the meeting room with the royal family, Eric produced several documents for the trio to look over. "These are our proposals for the alliance and allocation of trade. Right now, we are not able to pay our soldiers, and we are running low on supplies. By selling your kingdom select pieces of equipment, we are hoping to mitigate those concerns. We are also requesting around three hundred additional soldiers. We will of course provide all training necessary, and any gear we issue to will be theirs to keep."

The king and queen looked at the documents at depth. Much of the trade Negotiation had been done the previous day, but these final details had caused some back and forth. The king set the documents down as he folded his hands in front of him. "I will agree to your terms, but I wish to add one concession. I wish for every soldier that we send to procure your firearms and one full magazine of ammunition. Our technology simply does not fire as accurately, and cannot replicate the simplicity with which your soldiers can initiate the reload process."

Eric looked at King Remory while debating the pros and cons of the request. Milano had given him all authority to make sure this deal went through. He knew failure was not an option. "Very well. I will agree, but on one condition: should those soldiers retire or be discharged, their weapons are to be either returned to the state, or to us. We do not wish for our weapons to be utilized in harming innocents."

"Very well." King Remory responded while a scribe that had been jotting notes produced the documents. She placed the official agreement in front of the King, and he signed it, placing his official seal on the bottom of the page. Eric followed suit, and the two men stood up to shake hands. "I assume I am invited to the wedding?" The king said with a chuckle, crushing Eric's hand. Eric smirked while applying force back. "Of course you are…

Uncle." He teased. Lilith and Ayeolla rolled their eyes at the same time, with Mia standing at the back, glaring at the two. "Men." She grumbled, following the other ladies out to allow the ego battle to subside.
