Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Adrian Lawrence

Hilarious. He doesn't even have a Vision, yet he's picky about his food. Even with specialized training, what can he really do?

Facing the furious young man, Cid—who could already solo a Hilichurl King—didn't even need his Vision. He simply slapped the young man down onto the floor with one palm.

"The glory you have now truly isn't worth a young man like you protecting it. You as a person are far more important than the Lawrence family's glory."

As soon as these words came out, Cid could clearly sense that the young man pinned beneath him shifted from defiance to happiness and embarrassment.

It gave off a feeling of "Aw, it's not as good as you're making it sound."

Young people with little experience are really easy to read.

Cid released his hold on the young man.

"Sir, although you are indeed stronger than me, I will absolutely not allow you to insult my family!"

The young man's eyes revealed that pure stupidity typical of a university student.

"You should perhaps try experiencing the work of the common people."

"The work of those lowly commoners? Impossible! A noble Lawrence would never soil their own hands!"

Alright, this young man still needs a beating.

Cid went up and slapped him down onto the floor again.

To be fair, the ground was all snow, and it was pretty icy cold.

"Great responsibility is bestowed by the heavens upon certain people, but first their resolve must be tested, their bodies toiled, their muscles strained, and their skin starved. Your ancestors went through the same thing—can't you descendants handle it?"

"You're talking nonsense! What noble would ever do such lowly work!"

"There is one. Me." Cid, disguised as a noble, spoke with complete confidence.

"What!?"

"My family has a tradition called 'remembering hardship to cherish sweetness'—a training for the young.

Every young person in the family, when they reach the appropriate age, is thrown out to face society's beatings alone.

And as for me… if you want to check, half a year ago in Mondstadt there should still be delivery records under the name Cid Kagerou."

"You… that's impossible!" The young man's worldview was shaken.

"You can try to doubt my identity.

Well, I guess you wouldn't think of it, but the people behind your family will definitely suspect it too."

Cid was completely at ease, like an elegant noble with everything under control.

"You can try investigating my records from a year ago.

No matter where you look, you won't be able to find anything.

Compared to us, you are truly far too weak—you don't even have the qualifications to touch our existence."

Cid stood up and took little Eula's hand.

"Take a good look at the world, young man. The world is vast, yet you can't even see through the things on the surface."

In the end, the young man named Adrian Lawrence could only stare silently at the invitation in his hand and the Magite ore that symbolized a contract.

He remained silent for a very long time.

Until a ray of white light refracted through the snowy mountain and landed on his face…

"Is the world really that vast?"

Adrian Lawrence looked outside the cave. It was a world of pure, flawless white.

Though the surroundings were so quiet that only the howling of the wind could be heard, the frigid air cut into his cheeks like ice blades.

He took a deep breath; the icy air traveled straight down his respiratory tract into his lungs, making his mind even clearer.

In the end, he could only feel his own burning heart beating.

...

"Sir! I'll go take a look!"

The young man's voice was very loud. Cid turned back and saw only a blurry figure raising something red high…

Hiss…

A Pyro Vision?

This young man awakened so quickly.

"Eula, let's go quickly—careful, there might be an avalanche soon."
