Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Daily Life Before the Rite of Descension

In any case, the old uncle's daily life had begun.

In the morning, he freeloaded food and drink at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

"Oh no, I misjudged the portion size. I thought adding one more pancake roll would be fine..."

The old uncle walked along the road, feeling his stomach bloated and somewhat uncomfortable.

"Aiya, this old uncle is such a loser. Next time, remember that one portion is enough, okay?"

Little Hu Tao was a good girl. Seeing the old uncle looking unwell from overeating, she felt sorry for him. She changed her original plan of running off like a duckling and instead pulled the old uncle along as they walked.

"I can't take it anymore, little Hu Tao. You stay far away first. I'm going to the ditch over there to throw up."

In the end, the old uncle couldn't hold it in and went to the nearby drainage canal to vomit.

"Old uncle, it's been so long already—how can you still misjudge your own appetite?"

Little Eula, after all, had the height of a middle school girl, so she could pat the old uncle's bent-over back.

The little milk dumpling Hu Tao could only honestly stay far away from the old uncle to avoid getting splashed.

"I'm getting old. I have to admit defeat. Back when I was your age, Eula, I needed three portions for breakfast to feel full, and for lunch I could even get seven refills of rice."

After vomiting everything out, the old uncle seemed refreshed and energized.

"Don't say it like you're already an old man, okay? And... old uncle, you could really eat a lot when you were little."

Little Eula handed the old uncle a cup of clean water to rinse his mouth.

Once the old uncle was done vomiting, little Hu Tao pulled on his pants.

"Of course! When I was little, this old uncle could eat an incredible amount, and my eating speed was especially fast. If I hadn't later met little Eula and been strictly trained in table manners, I would still be that guy who could slurp down a bowl of noodles in one minute."

The old uncle declared that being able to eat a lot is a blessing, and eating fast was the thing he was most proud of when he was young. While others had just picked up their chopsticks and eaten one noodle, he had already finished the whole bowl.

Every time he left the cafeteria, the tray return area was almost empty.

"What kind of training... you make it sound so weird..."

Little Eula turned her head away, fidgeting with her hair in her hands.

"Mm-hmm, yes, really! Before, when the old uncle was eating noodles, I only looked away for a moment to watch Grandpa chatting with someone else. When I turned back, the old uncle's bowl was completely empty. Super impressive—not even the soup was left!"

Little Hu Tao didn't overthink it. She simply bragged to little Eula about the amazing fact that the old uncle could eat a lot and incredibly fast.

The morning hours were basically spent wandering around Liyue Harbor, going out to stroll and see if there was anything fun.

By noon, the old uncle passed a message to the old parlor director Hu, then took little Hu Tao and little Eula to eat at Wanmin Hall.

"Old uncle! I want boiled fish with shrimp dumplings!"

Little Hu Tao said this excitedly.

"Old uncle, for me... Golden Shrimp Balls, please, and another portion of stir-fried seasonal vegetables."

Eula wasn't particularly excited about food; she quietly found the dishes that interested her on the menu.

"Boss, shrimp dumplings, Golden Shrimp Balls, stir-fried seasonal vegetables." The old uncle completely ignored little Hu Tao's boiled fish.

"Old uncle! Where's my boiled fish!?" Little Hu Tao was dissatisfied.

"Little children aren't allowed to eat spicy food! Be careful or you'll hurt your tongue!" On matters of little Hu Tao's health, Cid the old uncle never went soft.

"Old uncle~" The milk dumpling Hu Tao tried acting cute.

The old uncle's heart was as hard as Rex Lapis.

Wait... Cid looked toward the kitchen.

More precisely, at the person cooking inside the kitchen.

A little milk dumpling just as small as little Hu Tao was wielding a big iron wok and tossing it?

Chef Xiangling is amazing...
