Chapter 187 - Chapter 187: About the Wings of Wind

"I've recently gotten a proper job. The specific details are quite troublesome, but I've managed to squeeze out a little free time lately."

The old man acted quite relaxed as he talked about serious matters with Yoimiya's dad.

"You know how the Shura Anyakonsen-shou's secluded residence has appeared recently? I'm planning to take little Yoimiya there to have a look."

"Oh? You're going to the Shura Anyakonsen-shou's shrine? That's no problem at all. The shop isn't busy right now anyway, and I don't need the kid to help. Just take Yoimiya and go check it out."

"Alright, then we'll head off."

With the parent's permission obtained just like that, the old man prepared to fly little Yoimiya over to his old cabin.

But then he remembered one issue.

"Yoimiya, do you know how to use the Wings of Wind?"

The old man asked little Yoimiya.

"I don't know how."

Yoimiya answered honestly.

There wasn't really any way around it, but it wasn't beyond the old man's expectations either.

Although the Wings of Wind were a very convenient tool, in reality, not many people knew how to use them.

Aside from adventurers, who would bother jumping off high places just for fun?

Flying with the Wings of Wind could actually be considered a somewhat dangerous activity.

In the city, everyone mostly walked around, so they generally had no need for the Wings of Wind.

Because of that, not only did most people not use them, but the majority of households didn't even own a pair.

And since Yoimiya was still so young, it was perfectly normal that she didn't know how to use the Wings of Wind.

Still, the old man felt that children would really enjoy the Wings of Wind. Back in Mondstadt, even when he was delivering food, he would see kids flying around on the Wings of Wind…

Just watching them looked dangerous and gave him a headache.

"Then getting there will be a bit troublesome, but the old man has a solution."

The old man took out a sturdy-looking hemp rope from his Vision.

Then he looked toward Yoimiya.

"Old man, are you planning to… tie me up and fly with me?"

The old man nodded seriously.

Yoimiya hesitated for just a moment, but then nodded in agreement.

So the old man sat down on a stool in the Naganohara house, and Yoimiya sat on the old man's lap. She watched as the old man used the hemp rope to tie himself and her together.

"Brother Ryuunosuke, could you give us a hand and wrap it around?"

Yoimiya's dad couldn't help laughing at the sight, but he still came over to help Cid and little Yoimiya finish tying the rope in their combined mode.

The old man stood up, lifting little Yoimiya—who was now dangling by her feet—along with him. He gave his body a slight shake to confirm the rope was tied securely enough that there was no way Yoimiya could fall off midway through the flight.

"OK, Brother Ryuunosuke, we're heading out now!"

With that, after the old man and little Yoimiya waved goodbye to Ryuunosuke, they took off.

"Don't forget to come back early for dinner!"

That was the reminder from Brother Ryuunosuke.

"Got it!"

The old man activated the wind current and soared into the sky. Flying while carrying little Yoimiya was far easier than wearing that Shura Anyakonsen-shou armor.

After activating the acceleration wind ring, the old man flew quickly onward with Yoimiya the whole way.

"Little Yoimiya, don't move around too much, okay? The old man still has to focus some energy on controlling the flight."

"Mm-hmm, I know!"

Yoimiya held tightly onto the hemp rope. For a moment, looking down at the ground still made her a little nervous.

The old man, still not entirely reassured, wrapped both arms around Yoimiya and adjusted his center of gravity using only his legs to maintain flight.

After realizing that the old man's arms were holding her securely, Yoimiya felt much of the tension in her heart dissipate. She lifted her head to look at the old man as he flew.

At this moment, Cid was radiating the vitality that belonged to a young person.

Flying through the sky always felt refreshing and exhilarating.

Yoimiya watched the happy Cid, then looked down at the houses growing smaller and smaller beneath her feet. She began to feel the gentle and romantic touch of the wind that belonged to the sky.

Deep down, she unconsciously made a decision.

Tomorrow, I'll go learn how to fly with the Wings of Wind.

Emotions like this were incredibly contagious.
