Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: A Thriving Breeding House

Lucas walked onto the balcony and stretched.

The backyard was filled with the chirping of birds, the fragrance of flowers, and the lively sounds of Pokémon.

Seeing Lucas on the balcony, the Pokémon below all greeted him.

A few bold Staravia flew onto the balcony, and Lucas patted each of their little heads.

Gengar had disappeared early in the morning; it hadn't even done its exercises today.

A gust of autumn wind blew, and Lucas shivered.

He sneezed, then quickly returned to his room.

"It seems it's time to add more layers," Lucas thought to himself.

He then went to the restroom to wash up.

When he came downstairs for breakfast, Gengar returned, carrying a large pile of berries and other forest treasures.

"You went to the forest again?" Lucas asked, chewing on his bread.

Gengar nodded, then sat down at its spot and began eating breakfast.

"Remember to only take a small portion; the rest should be left for the forest's Pokémon."

"Gen gar!"

"I know."

After breakfast, the temperature had risen slightly, and Lucas felt it.

He then went to the backyard.

The front desk was left to Lilligant and Roselia, the two sister flowers of the Breeding House.

He believed their effectiveness at the front desk would be even better than his own.

Lucas first contacted the company Nina had recommended to him. Upon learning they would arrive in the afternoon, Lucas nodded.

He then had Machamp and the others move all the wood they had brought back last night.

Lucas took out a ruler, measured, and then drew on the wood with a pen.

He asked Machamp to Slash along the lines.

After sketching a draft, he took out his tools and, using the techniques he learned from Grandma's tool list, started working according to the draft.

He hammered and tapped for a while, then trimmed and scraped.

The commotion attracted many Pokémon. They stood quietly nearby, watching, and silently ate the berries in their paws.

They whispered to each other, discussing what Lucas was doing.

As Lucas worked, the piece of wood in his hand slowly took on its intended form.

It was a seesaw.

Lucas looked at the roughly shaped seesaw, which had Q-version portraits of Gengar, Lilligant, and other Pokémon carved into it. It looked quite good.

He continued to carve a bit more, and after assembling it,

Lucas sat on one end, letting the other end tilt up.

"Machamp, let's try it."

Machamp obediently sat down.

Immediately, Lucas was lifted up.

He pressed down hard, but Machamp didn't budge.

"That's not how you play. You need to relax, and when you go up, then you push down hard."

Listening to Lucas, Machamp relaxed its body, and then Lucas pushed down hard.

Machamp remained motionless.

Lucas rubbed his forehead helplessly.

He almost forgot that Machamp weighed over two hundred jin.

And the Machamp in front of him would only be heavier than an average Machamp.

He sighed, then asked Machamp to get off. After he got down, he switched to another Pokémon.

Lucas and Heracross took turns soaring up and down, having a great time.

Mime Jr. nearby saw them and also wanted to play.

Gothorita directly used Confusion to lift Lucas up.

"Actually, many people or Pokémon can sit on one side," Lucas said helplessly, his feet forced back onto the ground.

"Gothorita?"

"Why didn't you say so earlier?"

Lucas sighed, sat back down, and continued working on the remaining wood.

After finishing these two as well, Lucas looked up.

He found many Pokémon lining up, waiting to play.

Under Gothorita's command, they were divided into different teams.

Each team played for one minute.

Lucas smiled, then assembled the other two and placed them next to the first one.

Listening to their joyful laughter, Lucas also felt very excited. He then hung some swings in other areas and, with the help of Gengar, Gothorita, and the others, tidied up the flowers in the flowerbed.

Smelling the fragrance coming from the flowerbed,

Lucas was in a great mood.

It wasn't until the afternoon, when the renovation company arrived,

that Lucas communicated with them.

Upon hearing that Lucas wanted to build a diving area in the Lake area, the person in charge nodded, stating there was no problem.

He also needed to purchase some sand and install slides and other facilities in the sand-rock area, which consisted of the sand area and the rock area.

The person in charge discussed it with Lucas, and after finalizing the plan,

he pulled out his phone and made arrangements.

Soon, truck after truck of sand was transported over.

Afterward, the person in charge directed the renovation company's Machamp to begin working.

The efficiency was very high.

The diving area and play area were quickly constructed.

When settling the payment, the person in charge asked Lucas if he had any pokémon eggs that were strong and suitable for moving work, as he intended to purchase one.

Lucas thought for a moment and recommended a Rhyhorn egg to him.

This Pokémon perfectly matched the person in charge's requirements.

It was strong and powerful.

Its evolutions, Rhydon or the final evolution Rhyperior, were both excellent choices.

However, the price of this pokémon egg would not be cheap.

Listening to Lucas's introduction, the person in charge was greatly tempted.

After settling the payment, the person in charge even gave Lucas a 10% discount.

He then got into his car with the Rhyhorn egg, ready to pack up and go home.

Lucas walked to the entrance of the Breeding House and looked at the road that stretched from Twinleaf Town, through the Breeding House, all the way to Sandgem Town.

Because the Breeding House had been abandoned for a long time before he arrived, even though people passed by this road every day,

the surrounding trees and bushes were overgrown and messy. The dirt road, eroded by rain, was uneven. Lucas walked over to a few potholes and stepped on them.

After thinking for a while, he called out to the person in charge.

"Excuse me, does your company offer road repair services?"

"Road repair? Are you referring to this road that goes from Twinleaf Town all the way to Sandgem Town?"

Lucas nodded.

"As far as I know, this would be a very huge expense, you—"

"You've misunderstood my meaning." Lucas interrupted the person in charge.

"My idea is to fill in all the potholes on this road with sand or dirt, then compact it, and at the same time, trim the trees and bushes along the roadside."

The person in charge suddenly understood, "If that's the case, the expense would indeed decrease significantly, but it would still be a considerable cost."

Lucas thought about it and felt that the person in charge was right.

This road was too long, and even if it was just according to Lucas's idea, the money it would cost would still be a huge sum for Lucas. "However, you could contact the Mayor and ask; perhaps he might have a solution."

Lucas felt that what he said made a lot of sense and decided to first consult with Mayor Quinn before making any plans.

After seeing off the person in charge and his team, Lucas took out his phone, found the contact information Mayor Quinn had given him, and tried calling him.

The call connected quickly. After explaining his identity, Lucas exchanged a few pleasantries, then directly stated his idea.

There was silence on the other end for a moment.

"Shopkeeper Lucas, are you at the Breeding House now?"

A voice suddenly came from the other end of the phone.

Lucas replied, confirming he was at the Breeding House.

"Alright, then wait for me. I'll be right over to discuss it with you in detail."

Mayor Quinn hung up the phone after saying this.

Looking at his disconnected phone, Lucas accompanied Gengar to watch TV, waiting for Mayor Quinn's arrival.
