Chapter 35 - Resolution

After quickly dispatching the three uninvited guests, Hunter didn't stop there.

He walked up to them and delivered a few precise, crushing stomps.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

He broke one arm and one leg on each of them.

Then, pretending to rummage through a cabinet, he pulled a coil of rope from his Personal Inventory and tied them up securely.

He tore strips of cloth from their own shirts and gagged them to muffle their screams.

Once they were subdued, Hunter walked out of his apartment.

The hallway was empty. The neighbors, who had peeked out earlier due to the noise, had vanished.

Hunter wasn't surprised. In a low-income immigrant housing block like this, when gang trouble started, you hid. Some of the neighbors were probably gang members themselves.

He propped the broken door back into its frame, barely blocking the view from the outside.

Returning to his bed, he picked up his phone.

He glanced at his wrecked apartment, suppressed his anger, and dialed Parker.

"Hello?"

Parker answered quickly.

Hunter took a deep breath and spoke in a cold, detached voice.

"Parker. It's me."

"Three of Dom's men just broke into my home to cripple me."

"I've subdued them. I haven't called the police yet."

Silence on the other end.

After a long pause, Parker's voice returned, heavy with resignation.

"I understand. You did good."

"Don't call the cops. I'm coming over immediately."

"Don't worry. Dom isn't unreasonable."

"And with Mia involved... he'll give you an explanation."

Parker didn't waste time chatting.

Less than thirty minutes later, he arrived at Hunter's apartment.

He looked at the shattered door. The wrecked furniture.

And the three men tied up on the floor, groaning in pain.

Parker's mouth twitched. He hadn't expected his unassuming Asian mechanic to be thisdangerous.

Hunter nodded at Parker and tossed him a beer from the dented refrigerator.

Parker caught it but didn't open it.

He walked closer to inspect the captives.

Seeing the bruises and the unnatural angles of their limbs, Parker's face darkened.

"You broke their arms and legs?"

Parker knew Dom. Dom cherished his crew like brothers.

Dom had held back from retaliating for Vince because of Mia. But now? Three more of his "brothers" were crippled.

Even Mia might not be able to stop Dom's rage this time.

Hunter kicked the metal baseball bat and the switchblade lying on the floor.

"These guys smashed my door down and tried to disable me."

"If it wasn't for Mia, I would have put bullets in their heads."

"Pass a message to Dom for me: My parents are dead. I have no family."

"If someone tries to hurt me, I won't hesitate to kill them."

"I've given Mia face twice now. There won't be a third time."

As he spoke, Hunter pulled out his M1911, expertly ejected the magazine, checked the chamber, and slapped it back in.

Parker's face grew paler.

He understood the threat perfectly.

Hunter was just doing his job when Vince bullied him. Then Mia sought him out. Then Vince attacked him at his home. Hunter showed mercy then.

And now, two days later, three armed thugs break in to cripple him?

If Parker were in Hunter's shoes, he would have snapped too.

"I got it. Leave this to me," Parker said finally.

He felt guilty. He was the one who gave Vince the address. This escalation was partly his fault.

"I'll talk to Dom. Clear the air."

"You probably can't work at the garage anymore."

"I'll give you $30,000. Consider it a year's severance pay."

Hunter needed money, so he didn't refuse.

"Deal. I can't live here anymore either."

"I need to move and buy more gear for self-defense. That costs money."

"Thanks, Parker."

"My number hasn't changed. If you need me for work, call me."

Parker nodded. "Go. I'll handle the cleanup."

He understood Hunter's pragmatic stance. Even if Dom hated him, Parker still valued Hunter's skills. Business was business.

Hunter grabbed a bag of clothes—his only visible luggage—and walked out without looking back.

Once his footsteps faded, Parker pulled the gag out of Slant's mouth.

Slant was too much in pain to curse.

"You idiots," Parker sighed, shaking his head. "You didn't even check who you were messing with."

"Don't underestimate that kid. He meant what he said."

"A man with nothing to lose is the most dangerous kind."

"You should be thankful he likes Mia. Otherwise, you'd be dead right now."

Parker pulled out his phone.

First, he dialed 911 for an ambulance.

Then, he dialed Dom.

It was time to clean up this mess.
