Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Pack snacks

"So Quartz, why did you come here?"

Quartz stood up and extended his hand to help Lyxander.

"Hmm, me? I was assigned to watch over you while you were unconscious. Just so you know, Lie, you've been unconscious for more than a day."

"What! I was unconscious for that long?"

Honestly, Lyxander was shocked to hear that. How many important events had he missed while being unconscious for an entire day?

'Hopefully no one died.'

"So, what happened while I was unconscious?"

"Hmm..." Quartz raised his chin and thought for a moment. That alone meant something really had happened.

"More than a hundred hitmen were reported to have arrived at the building one hour after you lost against 2 O'clock, Winter Ghost."

"Someone spread information that Winter Ghost was dying, so the hitmen tried to take advantage of his absence."

Lyxander's eyes twitched several times as he failed to hide his shock. For a moment, he rubbed his temples.

"Wait, so how many people died?"

"One hundred."

"A hundred people were killed! How many crows died?"

Quartz kept the same emotionless smile on his face.

"None. All of the dead were hitmen."

For a moment, Lyxander stopped asking questions. He took some time to think.

'A hundred hitmen were killed, huh? That'll definitely be a huge blow to the other hitmen. At the very least, they won't bother us for a while.'

'Well, that's only if we're talking about low-class hitmen. High-class hitmen like No Scope or Grey probably won't be affected.'

'That means from now on, we won't be facing quantity, but quality.'

Lyxander's gaze sharpened. The enemies would only grow stronger, yet he still hadn't formed a 2-Star Identity. Now he felt even more pressured to grow stronger as quickly as possible.

"By the way, they were all killed by a single person."

Quartz's words interrupted and shocked Lyxander's thoughts at the same time.

"Wait, what? Just one person? Who was it?"

Quartz's smile changed slightly. Even though his smile usually looked forced, this time it seemed even more forced than usual.

"Vivi Amo."

"What? Senior!"

Lyxander grabbed Quartz by the shoulders and shook him several times.

"Don't be so surprised. I don't want to hear that from someone who beat a 5-Star all by himself."

Quartz's sarcasm felt like an arrow piercing straight through Lyxander's chest. Honestly, why was he so shocked when he himself had also done something insane?

"Oh, and Vivi apparently managed to form a new 2-Star Identity."

"No, before that, how did Senior kill a hundred hitmen?"

Ignoring the fact that Vivi had successfully formed a new Identity, Lyxander was far more curious about how he managed to kill a hundred hitmen. Though perhaps he could do it too.

"Simple enough. Vivi's 2-Star Identity, Sniper, allows him to see vital points and shooting trajectories, so all he had to do was turn off the lights and kill them all in the darkness."

The same method Vivi used when he killed Oscar.

"Wait a second, don't you think Senior feels more like a hitman than the hitmen themselves?"

Quartz merely shrugged.

"Honestly, yeah. Vivi really does feel more like a hitman than the hitmen themselves."

"And let's stop this pointless conversation here. Since you're awake now, we'll continue the escort mission."

"We?" Lyxander asked.

"That's right, we. Until further notice, I'll be your partner. Of course, it's only temporary, so enjoy your time with me."

Lyxander could only chuckle when Quartz declared himself his temporary partner.

"That last sentence sounded a little ambiguous, but for now I'll be under your supervision, so please take care of me."

Quartz nodded while letting out a sigh.

"Alright, for now change out of your military uniform into casual clothes, Lie. We're leaving."

"Leaving? To where?"

"Faulust University of Technology."

Lyxander's mouth opened slightly. He still hadn't given his father an explanation after the meeting in the hall, and now he had to visit his father's university.

"Damn it, I'm seriously unlucky. Then get out, I want to change clothes."

"Yeah, I'm going to change clothes too. Then let's meet again at the parking lot, Lie."

Quartz left, leaving Lyxander alone to change clothes.

After being left alone, Lyxander took off his military uniform and grabbed a towel. He entered the bathroom and turned on the shower.

Lyxander let the shower run for a while before washing his head with warm water. Water flowed from his hair down his body, slipping through the gaps between his muscles.

His gaze fell downward toward the puddles of water flowing around his feet. Lyxander let out several sighs before allowing himself to sink into thought.

'Let's stop searching for my lost memories for now. Right now, I should focus on forming a 2-Star Identity first. Hah, damn it. Can't this miserable man just live peacefully for once?'

'Looks like my peaceful days are over.'

After cleaning himself up, Lyxander walked out of the bathroom. He approached the large bag he had previously brought with Claudius and opened it.

He took out a black shirt and black pants from the bag and put them on. He also tied a red necktie around his neck. The striking black color of his clothes made his skin appear incredibly pale.

After finishing dressing, Lyxander rummaged through his bag once again and pulled out a black coat from inside the large bag.

Not just any black coat, but the same black coat he had worn when he first arrived at Entity Corporation.

"What a coat filled with memories."

Lyxander smiled faintly before putting it on. Once all preparations were complete, he looked around and noticed a black suitcase that was currently charging. Lyxander opened the suitcase and took out a pair of black gloves.

"Alright, everything's complete."

At last, Lyxander finished all of his preparations and was ready to leave. He slipped his hands into his coat pockets and walked toward the door.

However, there was a strange sensation inside one of his pockets, something rough and seemingly round. Lyxander pressed it several times and realized it wasn't something hard. He pulled it out of his coat pocket.

A snack wrapper crumpled into the shape of a ball.

"Ah! Damn it, I completely forgot to throw away Orochi's snack wrapper."

After answering his three questions, Orochi had thrown the wrapper at him and asked Lyxander to throw it away, but apparently he had forgotten until now.

"Well, whatever. I'll keep it for now as a good luck charm."

Lyxander decided not to throw it away and stuffed it back into his pocket. He then opened the door and headed toward the parking lot.
