We were going home to eat, fuck, and sleep peacefully, for the first time in a month.
Honestly… nothing could feel better than that.
Alex kept smiling, his eyes fixed on the road as he drove faster, a new kind of focus in his expression.
We both knew… the moment we stepped through those doors, everything would finally be ours again.
As soon as the car came to a stop in the driveway, I didn't even wait for Alex to turn off the engine.
I stepped out first, the cool night air brushing against my face as I stood there, waiting for him, my heart racing with excitement.
When he finally stepped out, he reached for my hand, our fingers locking together as we hurried toward the front door.
The moment we stepped into the living room, the familiar scent of our home wrapped around me, grounding me in a way I hadn't felt in weeks.
I didn't go for the bags. I went straight to the bar.
I grabbed a bottle and two glasses, and Alex took them from me as we headed upstairs.
