[Yae Miko]: Well? I told you—these people won't last long enough for the killer to even act.

[Thoma]: Lady Guuji speaks with great wisdom.

[Lisa]: Lady Guuji speaks with great wisdom.

[Topaz]: Huh? Why is Lady Jade washing dishes?

[Aventurine]: That's rare—she does dishes?

[Silver Wolf]: That's fan service right there.

[Topaz]: What do you mean?

[Kafka]: Entering the kitchen means access to knives.

[Venti]: Exactly. Jade's suspicion just went up.

[Rosaria]: I think the killer will be among Jade, the Raiden Shogun, or Xiao.

[Xueyi]: That… makes some sense.

[Bronya]: It's only Day One. Blind guesses aren't ideal.

[Seele]: Whatever, I'm locking in Jade as the killer.

[Pela]: Huh—what is Valerius doing now?

At this moment, with everyone else scattered and busy, Valerius finally relaxed. He casually took out a slice of cake.

As the owner of the system, there was no way he was going to starve alongside them.

"Mmm… not bad. Quite sweet."

He ate leisurely, smacking his lips, making the rest of the participants look especially pitiful by comparison.

[Paimon]: CAKE!!!

[Lisa]: If the others saw this, what do you think they'd do?

[Guinaifen]: What else? They'd just snatch it.

Meanwhile, outside the castle—

As the Gardener, Furina was free to leave the building. She stood in the garden, curiously examining the castle before her.

A three-story structure, ancient in appearance, with thick vines climbing its walls. From the outside, it looked worn and weathered—like something straight out of an old tragedy.

"One… two… three…"

She counted the windows, matching them to the rooms.

Then she noticed something odd.

All the windows faced the same direction—toward her.

And beside each one, not far away, ran a thick external water pipe.

"W-wait a second…"

Her face fell.

"Isn't this basically convenient for the killer?"

With access to the pipes, someone could climb directly into the rooms from outside.

Dodging the killer suddenly didn't seem so easy after all.

"Should I tell the others?"

The thought crossed her mind.

If she shared this information, everyone could heighten their defenses. But then she paused.

Wait.

I'm the Gardener.

At night, she didn't have to stay inside the castle at all.

If she hid here in the garden and waited…

The moment the killer used the pipes, wouldn't she immediately know who it was?

And since she wouldn't be in a room, the killer wouldn't even notice her absence.

"…This might actually work."

Decision made, Furina chose to keep the information to herself.

I'll give the killer a proper surprise.

Satisfied with her plan, she headed back inside.

The moment she entered the hall, she saw Valerius—happily eating cake.

The cream on top looked excessively sweet.

Her mood instantly soured.

She sat down beside him, eyes locked onto the cake like a hawk.

"Um… what are you eating?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

"Cake."

"Then… is it good?"

"It's alright."

Valerius stopped eating and glanced at her, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

"…You want some?"

"N-no! Of course not! I was just—just asking!"

"Oh."

He turned back and continued eating.

Furina was furious.

What is wrong with this man?!

I was clearly being polite—can't you take a hint?!

[Charlotte]: Wooooow… that's just cruel.

[Sampo]: Want some? Nope.

[Black Swan]: Hehe… what an interesting memory.

[Neuvillette]: …Sigh.

Neuvillette saw it clearly.

Valerius was absolutely doing this on purpose.

If she wanted cake, she should've just said it. It wasn't shameful.

Now she was completely stuck.

[Wriothesley]: Watching this makes me want to punch someone.

[Paimon]: Yeah! I'm mad too—sniff

[Lumine]: Paimon, wipe your drool.

Inside the Game Arena.

Valerius watched Furina hesitate again and again, clearly wanting to speak but stopping herself every time.

He was barely holding in his laughter.

She's kind of adorable, he thought.

Patting his stomach, he placed the cake down on the table.

"Ah… I'm full. Can't eat anymore."

Furina's eyes instantly lit up.

There was still a large piece left.

"Well… if you want," she said primly, "I can help you. Even as a god, I'm always happy to assist others."

"Oh? Really?"

"Of course."

"Great. The trash can's over there—help me throw it away."

"…Huh?"

Furina froze.

Is that what 'help' means to you?!

Is your brain wired differently from everyone else's?!

[Sparkle]: Psychological execution—terrifying.

[Sampo]: 666. Absolute masterclass.

[Navia]: Lady Furina, let's just go back to your room. No need to suffer this.

[Stelle]: Oh no… this is a terrible choice.

[Arataki Itto]: What's the problem? I'd just stuff it in my mouth—what's he gonna do, make me spit it out?

[Kuki Shinobu]: For once, I agree with the boss.

"…Fine! I'll throw it away!"

Grinding her teeth, Furina stood up and picked up the cake, walking slowly toward the trash can.

She hesitated several times, fingers twitching—

But she just couldn't let go.

Valerius leaned casually against the side, watching her the entire time.

Under that gaze, she couldn't even sneak a bite.

Just then, a door opened nearby.

Raiden Ei stepped out.

Her eyes locked onto the object in Furina's hands instantly.

"…Cake?"

"Where did you get that?"
