Liora's hands stilled on the keyboard. Her breathing quickened—the first emotion she'd felt in days that wasn't rage.
They edited the footage. Which means they're hiding something. Which means—
"What did you find?"
She jerked her head up. Thessian stood outside the cage, watching her. She hadn't heard him approach. Didn't know how long he'd been there.
"Nothing," she lied automatically.
His eyes narrowed. "You're lying."
"Prove it."
They stared at each other. Thessian's jaw clenched, but he didn't push. Instead, he pulled out his phone and held it up. On the screen was a photo of a young woman with dark hair.
Liora's hair.
Liora's face.
"Do you know who this is?" Thessian asked.
Liora looked at the image. Really looked. It was her, but... not. Something about the eyes was wrong. Too cold. Too calculating. This woman wore Liora's face like a mask.
"No," Liora said truthfully.
"Look harder."
"I don't know her."
Thessian pocketed his phone. Turned to leave. Paused.
