The tree that once stood tall is now a collection of items, as if following the rules of a game.
The leaves are slowly disappearing, sometimes dropping a few twigs that were previously hidden among the foliage.
"Hmm... what next? What were the people of the Stone Age was thinking..."
Rain tries to think of what he should do under this scorching sun.
The heat wasn't too bothersome, but after a while, he had to change his mind.
While picking up all the items that might be useful, he walked towards one of the trees to take shelter.
This is because without any clues, it's difficult to start anything.
Maybe he should start by turning this log into wooden planks?
That might be the best option, as carpenters would do.
Turning this log should be symmetrical and yield a sufficient amount.
Or so he thought.
Because I realized too late that all the similar items now showed numbers.
Does this mean these items can be stacked and piled up?
But how do you pick one up... when he thinks about it, his empty hand displays a log, while his other hand holds the entire pile.
"Oh, so this is a mind game. Is this God's power or a different rule of the world..."
Once again, he thought about how to turn this wood into wooden boards so it could be used.
But after closing his eyes for a moment, once again, without realizing it, what was once a log had turned into four pieces of wooden boards.
Previously, he thought that he had to use the flint in his pocket again, manually of course, but guess that wasn't necessary.
"Thank you, God, for your wisdom in this world."
Now what should he do with these four wooden planks?
Creating something here is a necessary step.
Even though he is only at this small stage, so far it feels fun and exciting.
But he has to stay focused and serious. This time he has to make a tool, or more precisely, an axe.
At least Rain know that wood will still be useful in the future. So taking more and don't rely on the existing stockpile.
But how do you even make an axe?
"The sticks should be useful to make one, but what things are compatible to become the axe head... The planks? Maybe I can form it into one by doing it manually with my flint."
First of all, he needs a table to serve as a surface for working on this plan.
Using the ground as a working place is quite difficult for a beginner like him.
Looking at the four wooden planks in my hands, he wonders how to turn these items into a real object?
Should I shout a summon or what?
"It's pretty embarrassing even though I'm alone in this open field."
Following his wish, the four wooden planks suddenly appeared as a wooden box on his hands.
He was so shocked and surprised that he had to let go and let everything fall.
"Ah, that solves it now. I think merging those wood planks can make quite a large crafting table."
Crafting table?
Why did I say that?
It almost rolled off his tongue naturally... or maybe it was just a fitting pun.
And magically, the joined square wooden boards transformed into the intended object.
A table with nine columns of a kind, blunt edges on each side, miraculously displaying a small hammer, a saw, and a pair of pliers on the side.
"Wow, how convenient. With this, making something should be easier."
So he took another oak log from his pocket and with a single blink turned it into four pieces of wood planks.
He smiled a little and it felt awesome even though he knew those weren't his power or any ability.
Alright, let's try this called crafting table.
He decided to call it a crafting table, which indicates its use.
"Let's see if I can use this small saw to cut trees."
But when he picked it up, the saw stuck to the side of the craft table. I tried a hammer and pliers too, but the result was the same.
It seems that these three tools cannot be used to interact with objects outside the craft table.
For now, he will try to make a real axe, based on wood.
Those columns seem to be related to crafts.
His instincts tell him so!
He needs to use two sticks and three boards to start with.
The sticks are needed as handles, and the axe head can be made from the boards.
But why isn't anything happening?
"Does this need a real spell? Let me try, Shalom!"
Nothing happened.
The only response he got was a gust of wind and a small rustle from the leaves of the trees.
And then he tapped the table in frustration.
*woosh*
The wooden axe looked silly and weak, like a toy.
"Is this supposed to be an axe?" he said as he held it.
It looked usable, so maybe it needed to be tested, especially on the same type of tree.
He turned around and immediately swung the axe at the trunk of the box tree.
From swing to swing to the same spot.
Just like his previous experience, slowly the wooden trunk cracked and spread.
It seems this axe is quite useful.
With a familiar popping sound, the tree trunk fell, giving several logs as he had hoped.
But looking at the wooden axe, it seemed that many parts had chipped off. It was almost broken. He doesn't think he can expect too much durability from this tool.
Rain picked up a piece of wood from the tree and returned to the crafting table.
"Now what should I do? I know that various things can be made with the right materials... maybe? But I think I need the right tools to gather materials in this world."
With only wood and logs, the choice of tools and their durability are very limited, especially after seeing that axe.
It's not an axe, it's more like a toy!
But what did people use in the past?
Stones?
He looked back at the river, whose banks were lined with stones.
But all the stones looked smooth and solid.
Unlike those at the bottom of the river, which were a collection of gravel and pebbles.
"I need to make a pickaxe. Yes, that should be the answer for the next step."
The right tool for breaking things, especially rocks or stones.
Without hesitation, he took three wooden planks and branches.
He lined them up within T shape in the columns.
A hard blow to the table, and the pickaxe was now in his hands.
Time for the real Stone Age!
