Chapter 2 - What is this? Chaos?

"Uhn?"

Evan answered, his tongue stuck, looking left and right, to be sure she was referring to him.

Of course, he echoed in his mind, she was definitely referring to him, he calmed himself down, trying to mutter some words but, nothing came out, he felt absolutely nervous.

The pink headed maid tilted her head to the side staring at her master Evan who was now sweating profusely. "Master, I assume you are searching for the talking frog?" The pink headed maid asked with a blissful smile.

Seemingly teasing Evan, Evan was startled as he gazed at the glorious smile of the the dashing maid.

"Y-yes," he muttered under shriveled breaths. The whole scenerio felt strange to Evan, the last time he'd spoken to a girl his age was about nine years ago that was before the strange sleeping sickness befell him.

Ever since then, he'd been asleep most of the time, and barely able to mix with the outside world.

"I think I might know where the frog is master Evan, I might have seen it just a few days ago."

"R-Really?" " Yes master."

"Alright then, Evan spoke clearly getting a hold of himself, "where is the green frog."

It's in a pond just a little bit far from here.

"Did I here someone say a talking frog?" Isla interrupted, appearing beside Evan, "oh yes Isla," answered Evan, now feeling a bit relaxed, she says she might know where the talking frog is.

"Is that true?" "Let's go check it out then?" Isla breathed happily, a sad face, brightening up.

Brother Evan what are you thinking of, Isla asked staring at Evan who had a concentrated gaze upwards, the sky seemed to be getting cloudy.

"Rain's about falling Isla," you should stay back," I'll go get it the green frog back for you."

"Are you sure brother Evan, yes, of course I'm sure, Evan spoke Patting his little sister head." "Okay then, I'll be waiting," Isla answered returning back to the large mansion.

"Master Evan shall we leave now?" Yes of course we can, the two figures walked out the of the mansions premises, passing through the polished gate, he hadn't taken permission from his father, he felt it unnecessary since the pond wasn't so far at all.

Evan recalled the last time he had went out of his father's mansion, it's been over three months, they entered into the slightly bustling road, everything was normal, but Evan could spot some flaws, he's eyes darted around, staring at the ceramic ground of the walk way, various towners, walking to and fro the city.

Carts filled with live stock along with chariots also passing by, Evan heaved a deep breath as he recalled the familiar peace he'd always felt in this town.

Though something was off, people weren't as noisy as they usually were, the knights were scanty, some familiar shops and tervans had been shut down.

Things have really changed, Evan muttered, the pink headed maid responded, "that's quite true, especially the strange disappearance of towners and noble's too, she paused, Sorry master, I didn't mean to respond, she spoke her head nodded down, "it's nothing at all," said Evan, waving his hand dismissively.

Evan then stopped in his tracks, seeing this, the pink headed maid also stopped, Evan peeked at the dark clouds then returned his gaze to the pink headed maid then asked,

"What is your name?"

The pink headed maid's eyes shimmered, like she'd been waiting for him to ask that question, since a century ago.

"Pixie," she responded silently.

Such a nice name, Evan said as they continued walking on the ceramic path. That name felt a bit unique, not really much of a name a maid should be called.

Having walked for a few more metres, they arrived at a pond, pixie walked closer towards the edge, she then called out.

"Talking frog?!"

"Where are you?"

Evan squinted his eyes, staring closely at the bubbling pond, he spotted it, just behind a few floating leaves was a frog, which looked quite absurd.

I saw it yesterday, pixie spoke still staring at the bubbling pond, while crouching at the edge.

"Something's wrong pixie, we have to leave now."

"We do?"

Pixie asked confused," yes we do," answered Evan, "I strangely have a wrong feeling about this," alright, answered pixie standing straight on her feet.

She turned, a beaming smile swept across her face, streaks of sweat dropped down from Evan's head, not that he was nervous or anything, but because the little frog he'd thought he saw earlier, had slowly began to rise from the pond and looked really different than usual.

It's eyes were blood shot, it's whole body larger, almost like a three foot tall boulder, it's head big and its two eyes staring at two different directions, one peering up and the other down.

It's skin was frail and scaly, Evan shuddered at the sight of it, what sort of abomination has mr frog turned to?!

The frog began sticking out it's tongue slowly, it's eyes wriggly, it then increased it's speed, Evan lunged towards pixie, immediately pushing her to the ground, avoiding the hit from the frogs tongue, which had now stretched out to almost fifteen meters striking into a tree with a huge trunk and splitting it into half.

Evan was shocked, how could a frog have enough strength to split a tree into two?

Following the crash of the upper half of the tree, was a corresponding sound of thunder not so far from their location, Evan could hear yells from people in the town not so far away. He calmed himself down.

Staring back, he realized, he was lying on top of pixie! Their faces, one inch away from each other!
