Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 -- First in the World District

Bai Yue's gaze settled on the newcomer's attire and weapon, and his identity became immediately clear.

Aiton.

The top expert of the West City District—known throughout the Sixth World District as "Thunder Sword." The very same powerhouse that Illusionist Ronald Mora had mentioned.

A faint smile curved Bai Yue's lips.

"Interesting. I was planning to come find you after I finished cleaning up this city," he said calmly. "Instead, you've delivered yourself right to my doorstep. Saves me a lot of trouble."

As the saying went—search high and low to no avail, yet find it without effort.

Bai Yue raised his left hand and lightly tapped the floor-to-ceiling window beside him.

Crack—!

The massive glass curtain wall shattered outward in an instant, fragments exploding into the air as if struck by an invisible hammer. A wide opening appeared, and Bai Yue stepped forward, flying out through the broken window.

The sound immediately drew Aiton's attention.

The three-meter-tall giant stood atop a nearby rooftop, lightning faintly flickering across his body. When he saw Bai Yue emerge from the shattered glass, a bloodthirsty gleam flashed in his eyes.

"So you're the Heavenly Emperor," Aiton rumbled. "Your aura isn't bad. But whether your strength lives up to the rumors… that remains to be seen."

Ignoring Bai Yue's bone-chilling killing intent and oppressive pressure, his physique indeed looked far smaller in comparison. If this were reality, Bai Yue could have activated the Golden-Horned Beast's inheritance technique 'Heaven and Earth True Body' to eliminate that gap entirely.

Unfortunately, this was the Virtual Universe. Many things could not be fully simulated.

"Enough nonsense," Bai Yue said flatly. "Show me your strength. Otherwise, you'll just become another number on my scoreboard."

"Arrogant!"

Aiton roared in fury.

He drew the massive heavy sword from his back. Origin force surged violently, and arcs of lightning crawled across the blade, crackling through the air.

"Rushing Thunder!"

With a thunderous shout, Aiton exploded forward at a speed completely at odds with his massive frame. The giant sword descended in a violent arc, carrying dense Lightning Origin Law power, cleaving straight toward Bai Yue in midair.

Bai Yue did not retreat.

He swung the dark-gold long staff forward and met the attack head-on.

Boom—! Boom—!

Deafening impacts rang out, echoing endlessly above the ruined city. Shockwaves rippled outward, and nearby survivors—whether hiding or fighting—instinctively turned their gazes toward the clash.

Blue lightning-domain power and deep yellow earth-domain power collided violently in the air.

Anyone watching would doubt their own eyes.

Were these two truly at the same cultivation level?

After another brutal collision, a blue figure was sent flying like a meteor, smashing deep into the ruins below.

Bai Yue, surrounded by the profound yellow aura of the Earth Origin Law, remained unmoved in midair. His breathing was steady, his posture unchanged—as if the clash moments earlier had never happened.

The difference was obvious.

Aiton's attacks had failed to even scratch him.

The ruined area where Aiton had fallen lay silent.

Then—

A bolt of lightning erupted from a nearby collapsed building, transforming into a roaring thunder tiger that lunged straight toward Bai Yue's back.

Bai Yue calmly turned.

He stepped forward and thrust the long staff.

The staff, condensed with Earth Origin Law and Domain power, pierced forward with unstoppable force. The thunder tiger shattered instantly, lightning scattering into fragments.

The dark-gold staff continued forward—cleanly piercing through Aiton's chest and emerging from his back.

The lightning on Aiton's body flickered, then slowly faded.

His mouth opened slightly, as if he wanted to speak.

But the staff had pierced straight through his heart.

There was no chance.

"Thunder Tiger…"

Only then did the sound of his final attack reach Bai Yue's ears.

Bai Yue withdrew the staff.

Aiton's massive corpse fell from the air, crashing into the ground and sending up a cloud of dust.

Thus perished Thunder Sword Aiton—the strongest expert of the West City District, a man who had just stepped into the threshold of the Lightning Origin Law.

Bai Yue glanced at the screen projected on his wrist.

His information refreshed instantly.

Participant: Bai Yue (Black Dragon Mountain Empire)

Points: 9,765,426

Ranking: 1

World District: Sixth

On the ninth day of the preliminary competition, he had reached the summit.

At the beginning, killing an ordinary participant barely yielded a single point. Now, every kill brought ten, twenty—or far more.

Aiton alone had provided nearly two million points, propelling Bai Yue directly into first place.

"Killing real experts is the only way to gain points efficiently," Bai Yue muttered.

At this stage, slaughtering weaklings had become meaningless.

He turned and flew north.

After two days of investigation, he had already mapped out the distribution of experts in this city. There was a powerful Mental Master Controller in that direction—someone who had once fought Aiton to a standstill.

And now, that person was his next target.

From that moment on, Bai Yue embarked on a relentless hunt.

He extracted information from weaker participants, tracked down experts city by city, and eliminated them one after another. As time passed, the number of cities he swept through increased—and so did the number of geniuses who died by his hand.

The name Heavenly Emperor spread uncontrollably throughout the Sixth World District.

By the twenty-eighth day of the preliminary round, less than two days remained.

Bai Yue walked calmly along a dilapidated street.

Anyone still alive at this point was at least Domain Lord level seven, or possessed terrifying special abilities—illusionists, poison masters, or rare bloodline talents.

Correspondingly, the points from each kill grew higher and higher.

As the deadline approached, no one bothered hiding anymore. Battles remained intense despite the participant count dropping by more than half.

This was the last city Bai Yue had yet to visit.

The moment he entered, he sensed something was wrong.

Too quiet.

In other cities, survivors fought desperately for final rankings. Here, it was as though all previous slaughter had been an illusion.

Even more troubling—he could feel eyes watching him from every direction. Such surveillance wasn't unusual, but this time it was frequent, blatant, and undisguised.

Another figure flew toward him from afar.

Bai Yue's steps remained unhurried, but his vigilance rose sharply.

Golden sword lights occasionally shot out from the Derive God Weapon, casually killing reckless participants who dared approach. Even now, fools still existed.

Then the scenery ahead abruptly opened.

The buildings thinned, revealing what looked like a city park—largely intact. A lake rippled gently, aquatic plants swayed along the shore, green lawns stretched wide, and wildflowers bloomed among them.

A rare scene of untouched beauty.

Bai Yue stopped.

He ignored the scenery and lifted his gaze slightly.

Footsteps began echoing from all directions.

Figures emerged—one after another—forming a tightening encirclement.

Bai Yue narrowed his eyes.

"So," he said calmly, "you finally couldn't hold back."

A faint smile appeared.

"Let me see what kind of surprise you've prepared for me."
