Chapter 53 - A Wish with True Perspective

Goku had just finished eating when Violet returned.

The moment she placed the final Dragon Ball on the table, both Goku and Bulma froze in shock.

"T-That was insanely fast!" Bulma exclaimed.

"You actually got it that quickly?!"

Even Goku looked impressed.

"It took us almost a whole month to gather six Dragon Balls,

and you got the last one in the time it takes to eat a meal. How did you do it?"

Violet smiled calmly.

"I know the Pilaf trio you mentioned.

Some of my subordinates dealt with them before—they're just three cowards.

"The news of the Red Ribbon Army's destruction hasn't spread yet.

I was still wearing their uniform and flying one of their planes.

So I just used the Red Ribbon name to threaten them, and they panicked and handed over the Dragon Ball."

Hearing that, Goku and Bulma both gave her a thumbs-up.

"You really are a clever woman!"

"You totally played those three like kids!"

Violet chuckled. "Well… in my eyes, they basically are kids."

Goku and Bulma exchanged a smile.

"True enough."

Violet then looked at them curiously.

"By the way… what wish are you planning to make with the seven Dragon Balls? Can you tell me?"

It was clear she still couldn't forget Red's ridiculous wish to grow taller.

Bulma nodded. "Sure.

"To be honest, it's nothing too grand.

Goku wanted to use it on Launch—she's our friend.

She has a strange condition: when she sneezes, she changes from a gentle blue-haired girl into a violent, greedy blonde who loves robbing people.

"But after we got the ocean Dragon Ball, we stayed with her for a few days at Mount Paozu.

We noticed she'd become much more stable, even in her blonde form.

"So I was thinking of using the wish to make Goku a few years older… so we could date normally."

Violet stared at Goku.

"You went through all that trouble just so he could grow up faster?"

Bulma laughed.

"Not really. Neither of us had a strong wish.

We were mostly just adventuring for fun."

Then she looked at Goku.

"Now that we have all seven, let's find a quiet place and summon Shenron."

Violet hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't bring herself to.

Noticing this, Goku asked gently,

"What's wrong? Do you… have a wish of your own?"

Bulma immediately added,

"Oh! I almost forgot about you.

You're one of us now—if you have a wish, you should say it.

We can decide whose is more important."

Violet's eyes trembled.

"You'd really give your hard-earned wish to me?"

Goku nodded without hesitation.

"Of course. You're our friend now."

Bulma smiled. "So what's your wish?"

Violet lowered her head.

"The Red Ribbon Army killed a lot of innocent people while searching for the Dragon Balls.

And I… as one of their colonels, committed many wrongs.

"I only came to my senses recently.

If not for Goku, I wouldn't even be alive right now.

"I can't pretend the past never happened.

I want to wish that all the innocent people killed by the Red Ribbon Army be brought back to life… as atonement."

Goku and Bulma were stunned.

Neither of them expected a wish so profound.

Compared to that, their own wishes suddenly felt childish.

They both nodded at once.

"Of course!"

"That's absolutely okay!"

Violet's face lit up.

"Thank you… thank you so much!"

Bulma shook her head.

"No, Violet. Your wish is amazing. It makes us feel embarrassed about ours."

Violet smiled softly. "Without your radar and Goku's strength, I never could have gotten all the Dragon Balls…"

Bulma grinned proudly. "Hehe, I like hearing that."

Soon, the three of them went to a quiet place and placed the Dragon Balls together.

Bulma stretched out her arms dramatically and shouted,

"Come forth, Shenron, and grant my wish!"

The seven Dragon Balls glowed with golden light.

Dark clouds filled the sky as the dragon emerged, coiling through the heavens.

Violet stared in awe, speechless.

Shenron's red eyes gleamed.

"Those who have gathered the seven Dragon Balls… state your wish."

Goku looked at Violet. "Go ahead. Say it clearly."

Violet clasped her hands.

"Shenron… can you revive the innocent people killed by the Red Ribbon Army?"

"I can only revive those who died within the past year."

"One year…?"

"Yes. Those who have been dead longer cannot be revived."

Violet's eyes shone with relief.

"Then that's enough! Please bring them back!"

Shenron nodded.

Ripples of light spread across the world.

"Your wish has been granted."

"Thank you, Shenron!"

The dragon vanished into golden light, scattering back into the Dragon Balls.

Bulma stretched lazily.

"Well… adventure over. Back to school… ugh."

Then she looked at Goku.

"What about you? Want to pick up Launch and come stay at my place?"

Goku shook his head.

"If I stay at your house, I'll slack off.

And Launch is still alone at Mount Paozu—I can't leave her.

"But I'll visit you on weekends."

Bulma smiled. "Deal."

Violet looked at Goku curiously.

"You're already this strong… and you still want to train?"

"Of course," Goku replied.

"There's always someone stronger. If I want to live peacefully, I have to keep improving."

Violet nodded.

"Now I understand why you're so powerful.

Wherever you go, I'll go too."

Bulma raised an eyebrow.

"He's going to live in the mountains. Can you handle that?"

Violet laughed proudly.

"I was born in the mountains. I've been hunting since I was a child."

"Impressive!"
