Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: The Group Chat

[3rd POV]

"Billie, Haley!" The voice of Cam echoed first as they both leaned in together so that their faces were both clearly shown to the group in the voice call.

"Hey guys!" Haley said in response with a smile, as she saw her grandpa struggle to use the phone properly, and was actively showing the plate that was in front of him instead of his face.

"Jay, you might want to flip your screen, unless you mean to let us stare at your lunch for the day" Billie said with an amused expression on her face.

"Hey, at least it looks pretty good. Is that like some pork sausage and beans?" Phil asked, as they all could hear Jay cursing as he was trying to fix whatever was happening, and eventually he did.

"Jesus dad! At least zoom out a bit! Nobody wants to see your nose hairs!" Mitchell said as once again Jay let out a grumble before zooming out, showing his face.

"There, are you happy?" Jay asked, as a resounding "Yes" echoed from every single person in the group chat.

Once again he just grumbled.

"So, Haley, Billie, how has Paris been so far?" Cam asked, sitting next to his boyfriend as they all listened in to hear what they had to say.

"It's been...amazing. Like, truly amazing. One of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, well, it's at least better than LA. For the most part at least. The...dirtier sides of the city are pretty bad, and honestly might be worse than LA, at least when it comes to the smell. But for the most part? The city is incredible" Haley said as Billie nodded in agreement.

"And what have you done so far? Have you gone to the Eiffel Tower yet?" Claire asked as she stood next to Phil.

"Nope, we plan on going there on our last day, which we figure will be tomorrow. Then the day after we'll be heading back. As for what we've done. We've gone to the Louvre and seen the Mona Lisa, which was kind of underwhelming to be honest" Haley replied, before Billie continued.

"We have also done a LOT of shopping. Even splurged and got myself something nice" Billie said, lifting her wrist to show her watch as she saw Jay lean forward.

"Damn kid, that the real deal?"

"Mmhmm, got it at the Rolex shop. Cost a pretty penny, but it's worth it to me. Figured that if I was going to start a true watch collection, I might as well get something that will start it off with a bit of a bang" Billie replied with a nod, as she put her hand back down.

"We also went to Hermès and I got myself Birkin bag which was...well, a hell of a lot more expensive than I was ever expecting" Haley added, as Gloria perked up at this.

"Oooh, that's the super expensive one, right? I wanted to get one but Jay said no" Gloria asked, which Haley nodded to.

"Yep. And I can't blame Grandpa Jay. The bag was...not cheap, it's called a luxury bag for a reason" Haley replied, knowing that the bag had cost her tens of thousands of dollars, and was one of the most expensive things she owned.

Besides the car that she was buying of course. But that would come later, as they had more important things to do before then. She figured she would buy it in a few days and leave it in the other parking spot that Billie had in her parking garage, at least until they found their own place and moved in properly.

"Pretty sure her bag cost more than my watch" Billie added, if it didn't cost more, it cost around the same amount, making it insanely expensive. But it's what Haley wanted, so it's what she had bought.

The charity money had already been donated, and it had amounted to well over one hundred thousand dollars or so. That was a huge donation, even by their standards, and it was only the start of what would continue to pour out over the years.

All in the hopes of helping out as many people as humanly possible. She knew that realistically her donations wouldn't make much of a difference, but any difference, any change, any improvement, was still a good one.

At least that's what she believed.

"Yeah I don't understand the appeal of those bags to be honest. I mean sure, they look kind of cool, but they aren't that cool" Mitchell said, also agreeing that the price was kind of insane.

"That doesn't surprise me" Haley said bluntly as the man looked insulted, while Billie barely held back a laugh at her words.

"Anyways, what else have you been up to besides shopping and looking around the Louvre?" Claire asked, changing the subject as she decided that she really did not want to think about the fact that Billie had likely bought her daughter a bag worth like twenty grand.

"We actually have been eating...a lot! Like, way more than I was expecting to be honest. But my god the food here is amazing. Probably the best part of the entire trip" Haley said, sighing as she remembered the coffee that they had before leaving.

She was just thankful that Billie had managed to get the recipe's for both from them, mostly thanks to the owner being a kind older man that did not mind after seeing how much they had both genuinely adored the coffee.

"Their coffee is genuinely the best I've ever had, like, I don't think I can have anything back here anymore. Not when it'll always be compared to what we had there" Billie added, agreeing as she knew she'd be making the coffee the moment she got the necessary ingredients for it.

Thankfully the ingredients were not expensive or hard to get or anything like that. And most of it had already been ordered the moment that she had gotten the chance. She had even ordered it in bulk.

She really liked the coffee.

"...Damn you're making me hungry" Mitchell cursed, as Jay bit into his food upon hearing them describe some of the food that they had tried over the week.

"We also plan on grabbing a few snacks to bring back. We found this nice snack place out here that specializes in selling snacks from around the world, and they mostly have European stuff. So I'm sure we can bring back some French stuff. Oh, that and bakery foods that could be brought too" Billie said, as she and Haley had bought quite a few bakery foods.

Mostly cookies, croissants, and a few others that won't go bad or anything. They also bought some that were specifically for each member of the family, since they knew their likes and dislikes when it came to stuff like that.

And chocolate. They got a shit ton of chocolate.

"Man now I really can't wait til you get home!" The voice of Luke echoed through Phil and Claire's call. He was seemingly the only kid in the call, since Alex was most likely studying or something. Something that she did...well, pretty much all day everyday.

She really liked studying.

Probably too much to be honest.

"We'll be home before you even know it" Haley replied with a grin, as they pulled into the street of Cam and Mitchell, and parked.

After talking for another minute or so, they ended the call, and soon got out of the car, bags in hand.

And as they headed towards Cam and Mitchell's home, Billie had only one thought on her mind.

'I wonder how they're going to react?'
