[3rd POV]
"Hello! You must be Billie! I'm glad to see you're here" Ellen said with a smile as she noticed Billie approaching. Getting to her feet, she reached her hand out, which Billie shook. Billie noticed immediately that this woman was slightly different.
Her smile was genuine.
"It's nice to meet you, Miss Degeneres" Billie replied, as Ellen chuckled.
"None of that please. Just call me Ellen, you'll make me sound old otherwise" Ellen said, making Billie nod slowly in agreement. The other employees in the area were seemingly getting ready, with there being makeup and costume designers around the area.
It looked like Ellen had just gotten done getting her makeup finished up and her clothes chosen as well. The makeup and costume crew were now seemingly waiting for them to finish their conversation so that they could do Billie next.
"Alright Ellen, so, what do I need to do before we go on?" Billie asked, as the woman smiled.
"Well first, I actually need to ask a few questions. Mostly just to make sure I know what questions I shouldn't be asking, don't want to make you uncomfortable, afterall" Ellen replied, as she motioned for Billie to come and sit across from her.
Billie looked a little surprised at her words, not expecting to get asked that sort of thing. She had already answered the questionnaire beforehand, but to get asked again in order to double check, further began to point towards Ellen being a bit nicer in this universe.
She hoped it wasn't just towards her but also towards her workers.
"So, what questions are off limits for you? Most of my other guests say political stuff and things that can cause lots of drama. But I'd like to double check just to be sure" Ellen asked, as Billie began to respond.
"Politics is the first of them, just because it causes too many issues, ones that I cannot be bothered to deal with. Second, I don't really feel comfortable with talking about certain aspects of my past, mostly about my parents. But I don't mind talking about my grandma, since I'm sure you have some questions about her. I won't be talking about religion or anything like that, for similar reasons to Politics" Billie began, as Ellen nodded, with all of these being on the questionnaire.
"Then there's the obvious ones. Like personal relationships and stuff like that, although I am sure there is one question you're going to have regarding HD that I am willing to answer in the future" Billie added, a small smile on her face as she saw the look on Ellen's face upon hearing this.
She knew she had assumed correctly that Ellen wanted to ask about her connection to HD, and what the two of them were to each other. It was something that most of her fans REALLY wanted to know, as there was definitely something happening there. At least, that's what they were all assuming.
"Huh...that's actually not nearly as many as I was expecting" Ellen replied seeing that Billie was done.
"Really? I felt like that was a lot" Billie said, surprised as Ellen snorted.
"That's nothing. I've had guests on here that won't let me talk about things like their lack of hair, or their cars, or their pets, or their shows or movies or whatever. Some of them even bring in legal contracts and stuff like that" Ellen replied, with Billie blandly staring at her.
"They sound fun" Billie said emotionlessly with Ellen chuckling.
"Yeah, they sure are. Now, I've got my makeup team here, they're gonna help figure out what you want, and don't worry about it too much. You can have as much or as little as you want" Ellen said, motioning to her right where a group of women were waiting, all of them seemed to be around Billie's age, and looked giddy.
"Alright, I'm not too big on a ton of makeup so that's good. Oh, and all the other stuff is ready, right?" Billie asked, which Ellen tilted her head at before a look of realization formed and she smirked.
"Yep, everything's ready. And I've got to say, I am very excited for it. You may not know this, but I am a huge fan" Ellen replied, very excited to hear the song from her new album. She had kept quiet about the news, knowing that by keeping quiet, it would drive a ton of traffic towards her show, and potentially get them on the news.
Since Billie was simply that big, and a new album from her would naturally get reactions like that.
"Well, I hope you'll like it" Billie said with a small smile, as Ellen soon left to finish up the other preparations for the show. At the same time, Billie had let the makeup people move in. She had been very clear with them that she did not want anything crazy, and just some light makeup. But, she had let them do their thing as they were the masters of the craft.
Even at home and by herself, Billie rarely did too much makeup, it was always the basics. It was more so Haley who had done her makeup and helped her with it.
She had never really been a makeup person. Although, she did plan on eventually investing into the area, mostly because Haley was interested in working in design and makeup after she released her album.
Haley wanted to do the next album and then focus on design a bit more, at least until she could get decently popular in the area. As it had always been her dream to be a proper fashion designer, and that was now joined by the dream she had already managed, being a singer.
She would still make music of course, but not for a year or two, as she instead wanted to get big into the fashion space, maybe even build up her own company with some help from Billie and using her growing connections. Billie planned on continuing her current pace with music, but also investing more and more, and delving into other areas.
She thought that streaming could be fun.
But that would be for the future, as streaming wasn't going to blow up in popularity for another seven years or so. Maybe even longer, since COVID was the real reason it blew up so much. Since nobody could go outside, watching streams became a bit of a pass time for more and more people.
Streaming was also not something that was as profitable as her music career, and would more so be done as something to do on the side as fun. Same with maybe starting up a proper YouTube channel, making actual videos and not just music videos.
She thought it could be fun to do videos on some of her hobbies, like gaming and collecting.
While contemplating this, the makeup crew had finished, all of them smiling at their work. The makeup itself was simple, and nothing crazy. But it was done in a way that it accentuated her beauty even further. Eye Liner, lipstick, stuff like that.
The costume apartment had come in next, with some very classy, but simple and comfortable looking dresses. As well as feminine suits, which Billie had immediately eyed. She liked the dark feminine suits more than dresses, it was a personal preference.
After picking out her suit, Billie had gotten to her feet as she looked at the time, knowing that she would be called on in any minute. And as she headed towards the entrance to the stage and the show itself, with her being the surprise guest for the show, she had only one thought on her mind.
'This might go better than I thought!'

If you can't tell, I am trying to extend the chapters before the Ellen Show appearance, mostly because I have to actually watch a few episodes of the show to understand the general makeup and how it goes.
And if it wasn't already obvious, yes, Ellen in this universe is a lot nicer. She is still annoying and over the top at times, but she isn't a piece of shit to her workers or anything like that.
