~Author's POV~
Drea slipped into the back of the crowd without a word, found an empty spot on the bench, and sat down with the cookies in her lap like she had never moved at all.
On the field ahead, someone blew a whistle signifying that the second day's games were about to begin.
Drea settled back against the bench and watched Jade cross the platform to read the morning's rules aloud.
With every word out of Jade's mouth, Drea smiled faintly to herself.

~Jade's POV~
The forest on Day Two had a different kind of silence from the day before.
Yesterday's tracking trial had filled these trees with the sounds of students pushing through undergrowth and the distant thud of feet against soft ground.
Today, the endurance run spread them out further and faster, scattering them across the full length of the outer grounds until the forest absorbed them all and the noise thinned down to almost nothing.
