I didn't bother with Xade and chose to focus on the games.
By midmorning, the academy had shifted into something that felt different from any regular school day.
Principal Vale made the official announcement during the first period, and by the time the second period started, the energy on campus had changed completely.
Something had woken up in the student body, the kind of restless hunger that came from wolves being told the hunt was finally on.
The week would run five stages across five days.
Day One was tracking. Day Two was combat. Day Three was an endurance trial. Day Four was strategy. Day Five was the final ceremonial round, where the top two scorers would face each other directly.
Points accumulated across all stages. Whoever came out ahead when the dust settled would earn the right to challenge the other finalist in a one-on-one event whose prize had already been the subject of every conversation on campus since yesterday.
