Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Husband, Do You Want a Girlfriend?

New Pine Town.

A beautiful woman looked at her phone with a slightly surprised expression.

She immediately handed the phone to the middle-aged man next to her.

"Mike, look! Does this mean Maddie is falling in love?"

Mike Ford looked at the text and the attached picture.

"It's my first time receiving such an expensive gift. I'm overwhelmed with joy, hahaha!"

It had been sent by his daughter Madison Ford.

He and his wife, Claire Ford, sat quietly together.

There was no question about whether this was a relationship or not.

It had been shared with a large group of friends.

It absolutely had to be a relationship.

He still couldn't get over the fact his eldest daughter had already defied his wishes and found a random man to marry.

His youngest daughter was only eighteen years old, so he would make sure she didn't fall into the trap of another b*stard boy.

Mike Ford said angrily, "We have to wait for our little girl to return. When she gets here, we need to ask her about what's going on."

...

On the other side.

Kate observed her phone with a surprised expression.

When Madison heard her exclaim, she hugged the little raccoon plush, leaned to the side, and asked, "What's up, Sis?"

"Look. Charlie is in the news," Kate replied.

Charlie glanced to the side.

He really was in the news.

It was just a small local media news outlet, though.

It was a small news article.

In the headline, there was a photo of Charlie and the two sisters. But thankfully, their faces were covered with a censored mosaic.

In the report, Charlie was given great praise.

It covered how he spent one million dollars to buy a little raccoon plush, so he could contribute to public welfare.

It also covered the bill from Prairie Steakhouse, reporting on how he had invited all customers there to wine and dine at his own expense.

The attached picture was of sanitation workers entering the steakhouse.

The manager, Augustus McCrae, gave an interview to embellish more details about Charlie and offered proof that the stranger had spent five million dollars to rent Prairie Steakhouse.

In this, the news editor again praised the mysterious Charlie Pace. He was described as the most perfect man.

In the comment section below, it was more than lively.

"Lol, this man spent five million dollars to invite everyone to eat steak? Since when does a man that great live in White City?" one comment said.

"So, how do I become friends with this champion?"

"If the billionaire happens to read this, know that I would make an excellent trophy for your lap."

"Who is this man? He's definitely my future husband. Do you still want a girlfriend?"

"Thanks to our local billionaire, I just went to Prairie Steakhouse to eat. All I ate was a piece of steak, and now I'm so full! I feel as high as a kite."

"Burp! I brought seven aunts and uncles with me. My entire family of fifty people went there to eat. If you haven't been; I suggest you act fast!"

"I always dreamed of having an all-you-can-eat steakhouse buffet, but I think I overdid it. After today, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat steak again."

While all this praised the event, there were some skeptics.

Some people claimed that everything couldn't possibly be true.

However, people made sure to put such doubts to bed.

"Even though the hype might sound too good to be true, I can testify that this is all legit. You can go to Prairie Steakhouse right now and get free food."

"I'm so dizzy. The protagonist of this event is truly handsome. His two wives are also very beautiful. They are the most beautiful sisters."

It was under this comment where things exploded into chaos.

There were over a thousand comments.

"What? Two wives?"

"Are they twin sisters?"

"Are you sure you're not mistaken?"

"Are you here to BS us?"

"This is fiction. It's all fake. Why would you start such a dumb rumor?"

...

When Madison skimmed these comments, her little face flushed red with embarrassment.

Those people were truly ridiculous...

On the other hand, Kate looked as if she hadn't skimmed these comments. She just covered them all.

Charlie fell silent for a moment after reading the report.

It had truly portrayed him as too high and mighty.

After all, most of his actions had been self-serving.

On one hand, he did want to spoil his wife.

On the other hand, he just wanted to make money.

But so be it.

If people wanted to sing his praises, sing they could.

In the evening.

The Maserati slowly stopped in front of New Pine Town.

Madison stepped out of the car.

"Sis, are you and brother-in-law really not going to come up to see our parents?" Madison asked.

Kate was firm in her decision.

"No."

She never forgot how her parents tried to force her to marry another man she didn't love two years ago.

If it weren't for them, she wouldn't have gotten angry and married a random man in front of the Post Office just to marry someone of her own will.

Of course, she never regretted her decision to marry Charlie.

If you marry a chicken, you must obey the chicken. If you marry a dog, you must follow the dog. Now that she had married Charlie, he was the man she had to spend the rest of her life with.

Madison understood the bad blood between her sister and their parents, so she didn't push the subject further. She just waved her hand, said goodbye, and went through the community gate.

At this time, the beauty of New Pine Town was in full bloom, and it was lively.

Some people took pictures of Madison getting out of the Maserati.

These photos were sent to the community chat group.

Instantly, everyone in the group started discussing what they saw.

"That's a luxury car. It's not cheap, right?"

"I just looked it up. It's a Maserati MC12. If you buy one, you'll be set back at least ten million."

"It seems the Ford daughter has made herself rich. She's really returned in a ten-million-dollar luxury car."

"It seems the youngest daughter of the Ford family is far more successful than the eldest daughter. The oldest ended up marrying a man who wasn't worthy. He was a leech, and she was the one who had to earn money to support him."

"Oh my God, talk about a rotten egg!"

Next came a sigh of distress.

Mike Ford saw the gossip while grumbling. He became very angry, the corner of his mouth twitching.

Not long after, Madison cheerfully returned home while humming a little song.

Mike Ford stared at her and asked, "What's with you today?"

"What's wrong with me?" Madison looked confused.

Claire Ford, beside him, said, "What your father means is, 'what's this all about? The photo you sent to your friends? The fact you came home in a luxury car?'"

"Maddie, confess your mistake to us now! Are you having a relationship behind our backs?" Mike Ford interjected. "That 'Mister Luxury Car Fart', don't you see it's just a trick little b*stards use to pick up girls? The car might be rented. If he was really rich, do you think he'd only give a plush toy?"

"What relationship are you talking about? I'm only eighteen years old!"

Madison was a little annoyed by the suspicions raised by her parents.

"I went to spend time with my sister today. The luxury car was a gift for her from my brother-in-law. The raccoon plush was given to me, and it's worth a million dollars!"

Mike Ford and Claire Ford were stunned.

The luxury car belonged to that man?

How could that be?

They had made inquiries. The man their daughter chose to marry was called Charlie Pace.

It was said he did nothing all day and had to be supported by their daughter. He didn't earn a single penny in two years, so how could he buy such a luxury car?

And to then also give it to Kate as a gift?

This had to be complete nonsense!

What? How could a doll be worth a million dollars? Her parents asked.

"If you're in love, you're in love. What's the use of spitting such lies to us?"

"Forget it! Since you don't want to believe me, I don't have the energy to spend time talking to you."

After speaking, Madison immediately went back to her room.

"This..."

Mike Ford watched her leave the room. He was so angry, he couldn't say anything.

Claire Ford suddenly remembered she had just read a news report.

It said that a man participating in a charity event bought a raccoon plush for a million dollars.

After looking at it again, she realized it was the exact same toy their daughter was holding in her arms.

"Mike, do you think Maddie really has a rich boyfriend and she doesn't want us to know? If she does, would she lie?"
