The royal meeting room was packed with people. The King and Queen sitting at one end of the big wooden table, Thon and Daon sitting on each side besides them. No one knew what this meeting was about, the guards shooting each other confused looks and staff kept whispering until the King stood up and clapped his hands to shut everyone down.
"As you all may know, our royal counselor has recently retired after working our family and the whole kingdom for over 25 years" The king's voice echoed through the meeting room, that's how silent everyone has became.
"Today, I like to announce a new royal counselor. He might be young - only 23 years old, but very skilled, since our old royal counselor picked him himself"
Now the meeting room wasn't quiet anymore, everyone was whispering something. Even Thon and Daon exchanged some glances.
The queen stood up and put her hand on her husband's shoulder "Everyone, quiet. We haven't announced who he is. There will be enough time for talking later"
"Thank you, dear" The King exchanged a slight smile with his wife as a thank you before the queen sat down again
"As we were talking about, I'm not going to stretch this any longer. Please everybody meet Nick, our new royal counselor" In that moment a young man walked into the meeting room. Thon just kept scanning his appearance, the new royal counselor was quite tall – probably the same as him, had dark brown hair, sharp eyes, and heart shaped lips. He nearly look Korean.
Daon kicked his older brother under the table to snap him out of staring at Nick. Thon wasn't the only one staring though, Nick was good looking everyone in the room saw that.
3 hours later
Thon is in his room surrounded by books, papers and a podcast about music history playing on his laptop. He might be a prince but his parents wanted him to have a degree so his choose something that he was actually interested in, he'd die if he had to study engineering, he sucked at math. So he choose musicology as his major.
There was a faint knock on his door before they opened and his mother walked in. "How are your studies, love?" She asked as she sat down on one of the chairs in Thon's room, the one that was closest to the table where her oldest son is studying.
He paused the podcast "I'm nearly done"
"Don't overdo it. You're talented, there is no need to worry about that" His mother put her hand on his. Thon was interested in music since he was a child, studying music history and playing guitar. She has no doubt about Thon graduating.
"If you're done studying, go sleep."
"Okay, mom"
"No all nighters" His mother said half jokingly. When Thon was younger he used to sneak out to the royal library to read books or watch concerts in his phone at the middle of the night.
Thon rolled his eyes when his mother left but not in the bad way. He knew his sleeping schedule was not always ideal and his mother cared about him, even when they are a royal family he is thankful they don't act like it most of the time. Yes, there might be some rules that normal households don't have but still, even the guards and staff were like a family at this point and now there is a new family member, Nick. And as it always go, some accept it sooner than the others. As for Thon,it takes some time.
