Chapter 38 - Luminar Manor

Dr. Edmund's was a man in his fifties. With a serious expression he checked on Severine's condition.

An exhausted but relieved smile appeared on his wrinkled face. "Your speed of recovery is commendable. As long as you listen to me, you will be on your feet in no time."

He must have worked hard these days, Severine mused.

His words were indeed the truth that she had personally observed about herself.

The trauma from her earlier desperation had resulted in deep blue marks all over her body, but they were all skin-level injuries.

Awakening, she bit that word. 

Ever since she had woken up, there was a strange kind of lightness to her body. Her breathing felt easier.

The monitor checking her heart was beeping in a slow, almost peaceful rhythm.

A sense of calmness washed over her. However, there was no other valid sign.

When she had earlier checked in the bathroom, what looked back from the mirror was a pale face lathered with deep and shallow scratches.
