Severine woke up after three days of coma.
She was inside her room, blue curtains swaying gently to show the golden sunlight outside.
The soft chirping of seagulls echoed in the distance as a chilly wind blew into the space. Severine lay still, her eyes seemingly vacant.
"You are finally awake!" A cheerful voice of the nurse broke her out of her reverie.
Severine's gaze drifted toward the door—more precisely, toward the person standing right behind the nurse.
"How are you?" she asked in a raspy voice, almost coughing from how extremely dry her throat was.
Andrei's eyes lit up like the brightest of gems when he heard Severine's voice. He quickly walked toward the bed.
The nurse helped her sit up while Andrei brought a glass of warm water to her lips.
"Here, drink it."
It was warm.
When Severine had left the Capital, it was a sweltering summer. Now that she had returned, the temperature had noticeably dropped.
The blanket on her body was thicker than she used to keep.
