Prologue

The Song of Calamyr

Long ago,

beyond the eastern horizon,

there stood a magnificent metropolis—

a city where many races gathered

to trade, to celebrate,

and to forget their sins.

In the shadow of that city,

a solitary wooden hut stood in silence.

Within it lived a beautiful woman

and her elven husband,

their life simple, untouched by sorrow.

But then…

whispers were born.

People murmured that whenever the husband left,

shadows of men from many races

would pass through that wooden door,

drawn by lust and sin.

No one knew the truth—

only that rumors always spoke louder than reality.

When the husband returned

and found the ashes of the faith he once believed in,

the elf's heart shattered.

Words of grief and vengeance

escaped his lips

and became a curse, unintended yet absolute.

"Climb that mountain and remain there forever.

And whenever you bear a child,

he shall always be male,

and he shall lie with you for all eternity."

The woman was banished

to the highest mountain at the edge of the land,

where even sunlight could barely reach.

Not long after,

a boy was born.

He grew faster than the wind,

as if the world itself refused to wait for him.

Then the curse began to spread.

The next birth came swiftly, unnaturally.

The child was covered in black fur like the night,

with crimson eyes like blood

and sharp fangs like a beast.

And they multiplied.

When the mountain could no longer contain them,

the dark shadows descended into the forests,

into the beasts—

and finally… into mankind.

In a single night,

the great metropolis became a legend.

And the darkness continued to spread

across the eastern lands

until this very day.

Thus, people named that mountain

Umbra of Calamyr—

a land said to be the root of all sin

and the birthplace of every demon.
