Chapter 20 - Waking Up After A Nightmare

Getting up, washing yourself, and going to work. A pattern repeated both in Lior's world and in the Eidoriku mansion.

Walking, walking, walking. Corridors, gardens, rooms.

Cleaning thoroughly is a duty; cleaning thoroughly is your reason for existing. You were bought as an object that, unlike an inanimate one, eats, gets tired, and sleeps. That isn't considered necessary by the masters of some estates or mansions, but you have to get used to it and make do with their rules. You are disposable—don't forget that.

Taking care of yourself depends on you and on how much the master likes you. Whether you eat or sleep depends on decisions made about you; whether you live or die is not under your control. You are an object—do you remember?

Walking along the same walls every day—doesn't it become exhausting? Get used to it and swallow that fact, because this is your life. You can't change. You mustn't change. The master bought you for some reason. Was it your body? Your usefulness? What does it matter—reasons aren't questioned.

If you're a sexual slave, bad luck, that's all. Accept it—you're worth nothing as a human being anymore. Stay crying in a corner; that's how the unfit die.

You aren't different from the others—you're made of flesh and bone, you have feelings too. But to everyone else, you're judged as an object, for no reason at all.

You made a mistake—what a shame. You won't eat today. You made a mistake—what a shame. You won't eat or rest today. You made a mistake—what a shame. You're no longer useful to me, so goodbye.

It's your fault, not mine. Who was told to wash the floor and leave it polished? You didn't do it—you're useless.

You're pathetic—embarrassingly so. You're nothing, nothing because you're trash. Die, useless trash. You'll be useful to someone else, but not to me. Goodbye.

A habit—this turns into a sick habit. You don't want it, but you don't get an opinion. Save him, save him, save me. No one. Nothing. Never. Run across that plain while you still can—one day your life might change. Try to make the most of your time, because you don't know when your hour will come. It's your day, it's your moment. You were sold and didn't even notice—sad ending, sad story.

Sorry, but you'll never be the same. Time always collects its debt, and that debt is your sanity. Nothing you do will make sense. Maybe the very child you care for will be killed tomorrow for fun, because some men felt like playing with bow and arrow. That is your cruel reality—you can't escape.

Life goes on. Life continues. You are part of this.

Keep living and you will suffer. If dying is the only option, why don't you do it? You don't because you're afraid; you don't because you don't know if it's the end. Your fall doesn't stop. Your fall will never stop. The void will consume you completely. The abyss will swallow you.

Nothing makes sense anymore. I don't want to see the light of day anymore. It's no longer worth continuing to live.

[Tina: Huh?]

My bed, my body, my arms. Here I am.

"..."

"..."

[Tina: Ah...]

"..."

...

"..."

My room, my bedroom, my quarters. I'm here.

"..."

...

"..."

[Tina: Uh...]

"..."

...

"..."

I woke up. I'm alive. I'm still alive.

"..."

...

"..."

[Tina: Ah... God...]

"..."

I'm here... in my room...

"... "

It's all dark. My body is covered up to my neck. The sheets are warm, and I'm not cold. I'm lying in my bed—it seems everything was just a nightmare. Right?

[Tina: Hah...]

What a horrible night. At least I managed to sleep, but the cost wasn't very pleasant. These days I've been having multiple nightmares—I don't really know why. My body feels fine and nothing bad has happened to me. Could it be fate?

[Tina: ...]

Ah...

The ceiling—it's white and painted. It's nice. I can hear the raindrops falling against it. It's winter season; it doesn't snow here like in other regions—it just rains and rains and rains. All these days have been so varied; so many different things have happened. The place is dark; I can't see much. I'm at peace after waking up. Everything feels so relaxing.

I don't really feel like doing anything. I'm very comfortable lying in my little bed. Miss Chiyo can wait—I just want to sleep a little longer...

[Tina: ...]

"..."

"..."

[Tina: ...]

"..."

A breath…

"..."

[Tina: Huh?]

"..."

Someone is breathing against the back of my neck. I can feel the warmth of their breath blowing beside me…

[Tina: Mmm… I'll go back to sleep…]

[Tina: ...]

"..."

What?

"..."

[Tina: Wait… what?]

"..."

How—what?

"..."

[Tina: What?]

H–HOW!?

Why is there someone in her bed? She's alone in her room and just woke up. Is there some maid who has the hots for her? There's no one—literally no one—who would be perverted enough to do something like this in this mansion except her master. But her master wants Lior.

So who got into her—

[Tina: Ah…]

"..."

[Lior: …]

"..."

[Tina: …]

"..."

It's Lior…

"..."

[Tina: …]

Tina looked around. Why are her things out of place?

"..."

[Tina: …]

My nightstand should be near the door… and the coat rack is supposed to be right in front of the bed…

[Tina: Uh…]

This isn't my room…

"..."

[Tina: …]

"..."

[Lior: …]

"..."

[Tina: …]

"..."

Tina looked at Lior, who was lying beside her. He was clutching the pillow tightly, his breathing calm and steady.

[Tina: …]

She stayed the night in Lior's room…

"..."

[Tina: …]

"..."

[Tina: …]

"..."

I FELL ASLEEP IN LIOR'S ROOM!

"..."

[Tina: My… God…]

How… when? What… how? Hey… how did this even happen?

I was so sleepy that I just took my clothes off and crawled into his bed. What kind of—what am I doing here?

I have to leave, I can't—

Plack!

[Luciana: Lior, it's time to—!]

[Tina: …]

"..."

[Luciana: …]

[Tina: …]

"..."

[Luciana: …]

[Tina: …]

[Luciana: Tina…]

[Tina: Luci…]

"..."

...

"..."

[Lior: Ahg… Uhm… let me sleep a little longer… auhmmm…]

"..."

[Lior: Huh?]

Lior slowly began to open his eyes, but his vision was blocked by something pale right in front of him.

He lifted his gaze and—

[Tina: H-Hi, L-Li… Li-Lior…]

[Lior: …]

[Luciana: …]

"..."

[Lior: Tina…]

Chick!

The door closed.

[Lior: Tina… T-Tina…]

[Tina: …]

[Lior: Why… are you naked… and in my bed?]

[Tina: …]

"..."

[Tina: Lior, it's not what you think.]

[Lior: WHAT HAPPENED HERE?! WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?! HOW?! WHEN?! HOW DID IT HAPPEN?! WHAT?!]

[Tina: NOTHING HAPPENED! I SWEAR! NOTHING HAPPENED! I WOKE UP HERE WITHOUT REALIZING IT!]

[Lior: YOU TOLD ME YOU WERE GOING TO BED! I TRUSTED YOU AND FELL ASLEEP! WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME, TITIANA?!]

[Tina: I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU! I JUST FELL ASLEEP HERE! I SWEAR!]

Plack!

[Luciana: SHUT UP, PLEASE! GET UP AND WORK, YOU LAZY PIECES OF SHIT! NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR ADVENTURES ENOUGH FOR YOU TO BE YELLING THEM LIKE THAT!]

[Tina: …]

[Lior: …]

"..."

[Luciana: My God! You two are so stupid. Get up!]

Plack!

[Tina: …]

[Lior: …]

[Tina: Lior… I'm going to go get ready… I'll see you later…]

"..."

"..."

[Lior: Eh… y-yeah… Tina…]

"..."

...

"..."

The blue-haired maid got out of bed, covering herself with the maid dress she had left on the floor the night before. Lior turned toward the wall; he didn't want to see Tina's body in its most intimate state. Tina was literally naked, except for the harness and her panties.

"..."

Titania left through the door, walking toward it with her feet covered only by her stockings. She opened it quickly and followed with a sharp motion as she closed it behind her. She left the room.

"..."

[Lior: Ah… what just happened…?]

"..."

He had been sleeping so peacefully, until that idiot Luciana woke him up and—

[Lior: Tina… T-Titania… was in my bed…]

"..."

[Lior: She was in my bed… ah…]

"..."

[Lior: I… I don't know what happened…]
