Day by day passed, without realizing it had already been one year since Roni had been in the city. At present, many changes had occurred. Roni had now gained the trust of Mr. Bobi to help manage the business. Moreover, he had been given a great responsibility to take control of the large warehouse owned by the Bob family. However, none of that came easily. Before earning such trust, Roni had to face various obstacles and trials, ranging from jealous workers to death threats. Even so, with perseverance and honesty, Roni managed to get through it all.
Meanwhile, on campus, Jack had grown increasingly bold in showing his dominance. He tried to control the campus by frequently causing trouble and conflicts. His motorcycle gang also became more and more rampant on the streets, especially after Bobi and his group graduated from that campus.
However, despite all that, Roni was never afraid of Jack and his gang. In fact, several times Jack sent his subordinates to disturb and threaten Roni so that he would stay away from Miya.
"Roni, I warn you one more time! Stay away from Miya! If not, I will send you back to your village crippled. You stupid country boy!" Jack said with a serious threat.
But Roni was not intimidated in the slightest. Instead, he replied calmly, "Do you think with the ability you have now, just by relying on your gang, you can threaten me like that? I won't be afraid at all! As for Miya, it's not me who approached her, but she and her sister who want me to be with her. You have no right to forbid me!"
Jack, growing even more irritated, said, "Fine, if that's what you say. From now on, we'll settle this with fists! Don't blame me if I act cruelly toward you! Especially now that you're only relying on yourself. I already forgave you, but you chose to fight back. Okay, I accept your challenge!" Jack said before driving away in his car.
Roni merely smiled at Jack's frustration and prepared himself for whatever might happen.
In his boarding room, Roni sat alone, lost in thought. Somehow, his desire to return to his hometown grew stronger. It had been a year since he last went home, and many letters had been sent to Ayu, yet there was still no reply.
"It seems I should go home during this holiday season. I don't know why, but I miss her so much and also worry about her," Roni murmured in his heart.
Suddenly, Mbak Maya came out of Roni's room while tidying her clothes. "Roni, why are you daydreaming again? What's wrong?" she asked curiously.
Although Roni had not lived in Mbak Maya's house for a long time, they still often did activities together. Since the first time Roni paid for the boarding room, Mbak Maya refused his money and instead asked for another kind of "payment" in the form of warmth she desired. At first, Roni was shocked by that request, but he always gave in to Mbak Maya's temptations until they finally made an agreement that Roni only needed to pay half of the boarding fee, while the rest was paid with the "service" Mbak Maya wanted.
Even though he often intended to refuse, Roni felt uneasy because everything had already gone too far, and Mbak Maya also seemed increasingly addicted to that warmth.
"I want to go home, Mbak. I want to visit my hometown. I miss someone," Roni said honestly.
"Ayu, right?" Mbak Maya asked, since she already knew about Ayu after Roni once told her about it.
"Yes, Mbak. I've sent letters many times, but I never get a reply from her. I'm worried something might have happened to her," Roni said anxiously.
"It seems you really should go home to see how she's doing. But… will you come back again?" Mbak Maya asked with a slightly worried tone.
"Of course, Mbak. I'm only going home for a short time, just to make sure she's okay. I can't possibly leave my studies and my job here," Roni replied.
"Alright then. I thought you wouldn't come back anymore. Okay, I'll get ready to go to the hospital first," Mbak Maya said before leaving.
"Yes, Mbak. Be careful," Roni replied.
Elsewhere, Jack was seen complaining to his father about his desire to have Miya. He asked his father to arrange a match between him and Miya and to talk to Miya's parents. If his request was not fulfilled, he threatened not to continue the family business.
"You threaten so easily! You're handsome, yet you still complain to your parents about romance? Try on your own!" his father said irritably at Jack's childish behavior.
"I want it the way I said earlier! If Father refuses, then I won't obey you anymore. What's so hard about meeting her family? You work with them anyway, it should be easier!" Jack insisted forcefully.
"You… yesterday you asked to be matched with Susan, now you're bored and asking for someone else again!" his father said angrily. Indeed, previously Jack had made a similar request when he wanted to approach Susan, and his father had granted it. But now, Jack was making the same demand again for Miya.
"This is different, Dad! This is the last time! I promise I won't trouble you again," Jack said convincingly to get his father to help him.
Because Jack was his only child, in the end his father agreed, though reluctantly.
"This child is getting older and more spoiled. I regret pampering him since he was young, now he's just troubling his parents," his father muttered, but Jack had already left without listening.
Upon arriving in his room, Jack planned to call Miya, but before he could do so, an incoming call from Susan appeared on his phone screen. Jack tried to ignore it, but Susan kept calling until he finally got annoyed and answered.
"Hello! What do you want? You keep calling!" Jack said irritably.
"Why are you avoiding me now? What do you mean, Jack?" Susan asked in a disappointed tone.
"You already know the reason. I'm bored. From now on don't bother me anymore. Understand?" Jack replied coldly.
"What?! After everything I've given you? You were the one who kept begging me to be with you! And now you say this so easily?" Susan replied emotionally.
"That's enough, I'm busy. Remember, don't bother me again. Oh yes, thanks for your hard work when I needed your warmth. Bye." Jack said heartlessly, then ended the call.
Susan felt deeply hurt after being treated like that by Jack. With her emotions boiling over, she threw her phone until it crashed onto the floor.
Meanwhile, Jack searched for Miya's name on his phone and pressed the call button. However, as usual, Miya never answered his calls, making him even more furious.
"Why do you never answer my calls, Miya? Just wait, when I finally get you, you will be mine! I will repay all this pain!" Jack snarled while smashing the items in his room in rage.
Elsewhere, Roni was seen riding his CB motorcycle toward the warehouse to start checking the work. Now, Roni no longer needed to walk like before. On Bobi's suggestion, he finally decided to buy his own motorcycle so he wouldn't be too exhausted going back and forth from campus to the boarding house, then back to the warehouse. Previously, Bobi had offered him a motorcycle, but Roni refused because he wanted to buy it with his own effort.
When he arrived at the warehouse, Roni saw Miya already waiting for him there. He immediately approached her with slight confusion.
"Why did you come here?" Roni asked.
Miya smiled sweetly and replied, "Why? Is it not allowed? This belongs to Papa too."
"Yes, but there are many of your father's workers here. What if they report it? I'll be embarrassed. Your father might think I'm approaching you to take advantage of you. What rich parent would want their daughter to be close to a poor man like me?" Roni said awkwardly.
"I don't care, Roni! I've told you that I like you. And remember, I'm not a virgin anymore, you took it a year ago, did you forget?" Miya teased with a seductive smile.
"Miya, don't be like that. I won't be able to control myself. I don't want to do it here, there are many of your father's workers," Roni said nervously as Miya began touching him affectionately.
Miya smiled mischievously and said, "I find you strange, Roni. Every man is thrilled when I approach them, yet you're afraid?"
Roni smiled faintly and replied, "It's not fear, Miya. I'm just aware of myself. Let's just stay friends."
Roni said that because he still remembered Miya's father's words in the past. When he once chatted with him, Miya's father said that he wanted a son-in-law who was equal to him so he could make Miya happy. Since then, Roni realized that he was not a suitable man for Miya, and Miya's parents would surely not agree if they were together.
However, Miya did not accept Roni's words. "Why have you changed, Roni? I don't care whether my father likes it or not. As long as I can be with you, that's enough for me. Truly, before knowing you, I was never this happy with any other man. I don't care about any reason, I just want to be with you!" Miya said emotionally.
Roni could only remain silent. He felt torn. If he rejected Miya, he was afraid she would be angry and disappointed. Moreover, Miya's sister always asked Roni to accompany her. But on the other hand, he realized that he was not the right man for Miya, according to her parents' expectations.
That night, Miya felt restless thinking about Roni's words at the warehouse earlier. She began to think that Roni was planning to leave her. Not wanting to lose Roni, Miya decided to go to his boarding house.
When Miya arrived at the boarding house, Roni was certainly surprised to see her. Moreover, Miya insisted on staying overnight and refused to go home.
"Miya, you may come here, but don't stay overnight. My boarding room is small, it's not enough for you. Your father might look for you again," Roni tried to persuade her.
"I don't care! The point is, I can be with you," Miya said firmly.
Roni could only let out a long sigh. Miya was not like this before, but now she seemed more aggressive and bold.
Roni knew he didn't have many choices.
"The room is big enough! Oh yes, tomorrow change the bed to a bigger one," Miya said as she entered Roni's room.
"Why change it? It's already comfortable for me," Roni asked in confusion.
"Yes, but it's not big enough. Because from now on I will stay here more often," Miya said frankly, making Roni scratch his head and shake it.
"Don't say you don't want me to stay more often. Anyway, I don't want to hear any excuses. I must stay here!" Miya said firmly, refusing any rejection from Roni.
Roni could only sigh deeply and finally said, "Alright, do whatever you want." He gave up because he had no other choice.
Miya smiled in satisfaction, then pulled Roni's hand into the room and immediately locked the door.
"Miya, my God! Why are you so aggressive now? You're not like this usually," Roni said in shock.
"I've waited a long time for this, and now I want to try your bed," Miya replied teasingly.
Next door, the sound of a car was heard, and it was Mbak Maya's car, it seemed she had returned from the hospital. Instead of going straight into her house, she decided to visit Roni first while carrying gifts in her hands. However, when Mbak Maya was about to knock softly, she heard noises from inside followed by the soft moans of a woman, making her stop and question it in her heart.
"Who is Roni with inside? Does he already have a girlfriend now? But who, if not a girlfriend? Then who is he with?" Mbak Maya felt jealous and restless instantly. She placed the gifts she had intended to give to Roni and left, not wanting to disturb Roni who was being intimate inside.
However, inside her room, Mbak Maya could not sleep. She kept thinking and wondering who was with Roni, while Roni and Miya were still engrossed in their heated activity, unaware that someone had almost knocked on the door. Sweat poured down Roni's body, somehow tonight felt so long. Perhaps it was because it had been a long time since they last did it?
