The Threshold of the Hollow which was the mouth of the dungeon was open in front of them. It was like the entrance to something bad. Cold air was coming out of the Threshold of the Hollow all the time. The air from the Hollow was carrying the smell of stone and moss from the walls of the Hollow. This smell felt like it had been locked away under the ground for a long time much longer than anyone alive could remember about the Hollow. For a moments after they got to the Threshold of the Hollow nobody moved. They just stood where they were, near the entrance.

The guards who had escorted them from the capital started studying the terrain around the entrance while their horses were taken toward a flatter patch of ground nearby. The rocky hills surrounding the cave created a natural bowl-like place in the land, with steep slopes and scattered trees covering the area.
