The fight didn't turn messy the way most fights did. That was the first thing that felt off. The creatures didn't rush in wildly or swing without thinking. Every movement they made had a reason behind it. They stepped in at the right moment, struck at the right angle, and pulled back just enough to avoid getting caught. It didn't feel like fighting beasts, and it didn't feel like fighting trained soldiers either. It felt like something in between.
Aurelion noticed it right away. One of the knights stepped forward and blocked the first creature with his shield. The impact rang out, but the creature didn't get pushed back the way it should have. Instead, it shifted its body slightly, letting the force slide off instead of taking it head-on. At the same time, another creature moved in from the side, aiming for the gap that had opened.
It wasn't random. It was planned.
